I have family in Philadelphia and have been there on a few occasions. Besides from English immigrants there are a lot of Germans in Lancaster County.

When my friend Piotr was here from Poland we would go there on Allegeny Ave to get some Polish food, there are some shops and bakeries there, but they do not live there,
mostly Ukrainians live there, and the Polish live elsewhere. I miss going there and getting the cookies and meats. I dont get to Philly much, work in Dover Delaware. Used to put in Windows in Philly for the Home Depot, so we went there every week, i was truely spolied, because all the Polish shops in Delaware, especially Wilmington are gone, Browntown used to be the Polish section, is where I bought my first house, but all the older people have died and the children have moved away. :-(

Ukranians don't live in Port Richmond! I mean there are some, but Port Richmond is mostly Polish. Allegheny Ave and Richmond Street is full of Polish stores, and Saint Adalbert (Sw. Wojciecha) is a huge Polish parish on Allegheny Ave.

There is also a Polish and Polish-American community closer to Penns Landing in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia with Saint Laurentius (Sw. Wawrzynca) as the Polish parish there.

Bridesburg is the second largest Polish neighborhood in Philadelphia. Saint John Cantius Church (Sw. Jana Kantego) is the Polish parish there. Polish people mainly settle around the Polish churches throughout the city.

There is also a scattered population of Poles in Northeast Philadelphia, who live around Dom Polski (Polish Home) on Academy Road, although there is no Polish church in the Northeast.

Suburban Polish areas include Conshohocken/Bridgeport, in Montgomery County, as well as various parts are Bucks County, which is close to The Czestochowa Shrine and Polish neighborhoods in Trenton, NJ.

There are a lot of Poles in and around Philadelphia (3rd largest Polish metropolitioan area in USA), many Polish organizations and clubs, churches, etc. I am a big "Polish history" and "Polish American history" freak, so if anyone was interested in the various Polish organizations, etc. in Philly just e-mail me at: amcwisniewski@yahoo.com
