SHOULD WE POL-AMS BE ASHAMED OF AMERICA?

Ohio Democrat Marcy Kaptur said she was ashamed of her country, the USA, since Obama's place was in Poland at the WW2 anniversary celebration. Do the Pol-Ams on PF agree or disagree?

As Pol-Pol :-), I don't know if ashamed, but certainly USA lost some points in Poland...
It wouldn't have to be Obama, but at least some politician from current administration (well, today I've read that USA added someone to the team). Anyway harm was done, the message to Poland from USA was "hm... we don't care". It is really not so important, but with rumours about withdrawal from "the shield" agreement, combined it sends clear message about current USA administration foreign priorities.

ah the wonderful world of politics...but it is not known if the USA has the time to send a high official to every country's war rememberance celebrations for who would have the time with so many wars because dumb hu8man race never learns. Of course in Peoples Democratic Rep of North Korea every day is good day to remember aggression of imperialist puppet masters and their running dog lackeys.

I'm sure that USA foreign department is big enough to match that task... Actually isn't that part of their job they are paid for?

I do not understand why Poland looks to U.S. I gues Poland have not been stab in back enough times by U.S. politics.
Poland needs to worry about Poland not what U.S. will do.

The current administration has made a number of foreign policy blunders and protocol mistakes. Should you be suprised?

I totally agree. With Poland having been occupied so often in the past, why they seek to become entangled with others again kind of baffles me.

Actually, it does. Bushes 41 and 43, Reagan, and others would've gladly helped Poland set up a missle-defense shield; and as a Jewish-Polish American, I'm not liking the way that Obama is treating especially 'Eretz-Yisra'el or 'Am-Yisra'el (including Ashkenazic Jews).

What you've wrote is inaccurate. It wasn't USA helping Poland it was Poland helping USA :-) It wasn't shield dedicated to defend Poland but USA. Poland would be ON the shield not UNDER the shield...

But had the USA not even suggested the idea for both Poland's and America's sakes, would there even be a missle shield?

And if Poland, if you will, got off of Israel's (as you'd put it) "tit", your country would be in a lot worse shape. We Jews contributed a lot to Polania, and the USA among other countries. So, the least that Obama can do for Israel (especially since about 90% of Jewish Americans are Democrats) is support Israel and, for example, tell Poland, "Hey; this missle shield would not only be protecting the USA and Poland, but it'd help Israel, who both Poland the USA are indebted to."

indebted? now i am sure you're crazy.. if anybody it's israel that is indebted to USA and PL. without US' money the rightful owners of palestine would have driven the jews out long ago.

Heh... that was good one :-) I really fail to see how "being" a shield is for Polands sake :-) In case you didn't notice the very reason why USA was obliged to give Poland Patriot missiles (short and medium range missiles) was simple fact that long range missile site in Poland would decrease Polands safety. As I understand current situation, Poland still get Patriots but there wan't be long range missile site. That outcome would make me more than happy :-)

Nickidewbear:

That is funny too :-) As much as I appreciate Jewish contribution in Polish culture, modern Poland is in no way indebted to modern Israel. Israel is not even NATO country.

I'm sure that if the US heard enough voices, Poland would get long-range missles. Also, so what if Israel's not a NATO country? She's Israel (Genesis 12:2-3, John 4:22, Romans 1:16).

For the last time: USA wanted long-range in Poland. Poland in return wanted short and medium range... long-range is no use for our defence...

Nickidewbear:

Nr 5 don't apply to Israel, we are not obliged to defend Israel (but I'm sure Israel is capable of selfdefence).

Nickidewbear:
She's Israel (Genesis 12:2-3, John 4:22, Romans 1:16).

This type of reasoning is obsolete even in Poland...

Well, then I misread about the long-range missles; but meanwhile, I still don't see especially how even a nominally-Catholic culture like Poland can justify not supporting Israel.

Yes Poland should support Israel, NATO, U.S., England, E.U. an anyone else in return for that support, Poland has received and will receive swift kick where sun does not shine.

Polonius3

What the heck are you talking about? Oh I see now. Poland is not that important in the world, you know. It's actually a 3rd-rate country (although I know the Poles think Poland is the most important country in the world: surprise: they are not. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but Poland is NOT important.) And fyi: nobody gives a sh*t about Poland's opinion as far as world politics is concerned. Sorry again if i hurt your feelings.

amen to that, nobody care about Poland till they need something after they get it then they kick.
I realize that long time ago and I do not understand why Poles or Poland let west use them time and time again, I started to think Poland is like abuse child that comes for more time after time.
Now I will go drink " na zdrowie "

If you want to be ashamed about America be ashamed at the lack of competence in the people running the country.
