Why would someone leave Poland for the US?

Until recently it was the power of the mighty dollar, mostly, that drew Poles to America. Opportunity and pay were better in the U.S. and your money goes farther here. I understand most goods cost 1/3 more in Poland than the U.S. Btw, it is emigrating when you leave a place and immigrating when you arrive.
