Hi,
I've recently moved to Montreal and whilst Ive manged to hunt down Zubrowka via the SAQ website, I'm completely unable to track where I can buy Wisniowka and Krupnik. Im also trying to find a Polish shop near the downtown area where I can buy polish origin/ recipe Pierogi Ruski (the normal supermarket mass produced ones are horrible and nothing like polish ones and I've nottime at the moment to make them from scratch).
Can anyone help me in my search?

You'll not find Polish wi¶niówka in Montreal. I'm not sure what krupnik is (unless is a soup). You can find frozen "ruskie pierogi" for example in "Chopin" patisserie on Decarie Boulevard, near Villa Maria metro station. Another one is "Wawel" patisserie on Sherbrooke Street, one block away from Decarie Boulevard, on NDG side. "Wawel" has the best Polish cakes in Montreal.

krupnik is a kind of sweet vodka based on honey with some herbs - quite tasty - can't remember it's usual strength - but it's weaker than most vodkas as far as I can remember

thanks very much. I heard the other day about wawel patisserie but hadnt heard about Chopin patisserie. will definitely visit them both. Krupink is a lovely honey and herb Wodka, 40% and best served warm. will have to get my friends to bring wisniowka and Krupnik as a condition of visiting me in Canada....

So is like miód pitny only stronger. I'm going next year to Poland so I'll check it out.

I do the same for visiting friends and family: that's the only gift I want from Poland :) Bottle of trójniak is the price of admission to my home ;) Polish wi¶niówka is perfection. Canadian cherry vodka is oversweet crap.

Charcuterie & patisserie "Chopin" is on 4200 Decarie.

Hi Elisabeth

You will be able to find Krupnik in Ontario (Ottawa is a 2h drive from Montreal). SAQ once had it and they gave me the address of the distributor, I might try to do a bulk order one day soon (12 bottles minimum!).

For a Polish shop, here are some I know:

Euro-deli Batory
115 rue Saint-Viateur Ouest, H2T 2l2
Montreal, Quebec H2T 2L2
(514) 948-2161
**great for food (pierogis ruski/cabbage/meat, bigos, barszcz, flaki, etc), it's also the best/cheap polish restaurant in town = think bar mleczny, other things like soaps and shampoos for the nostalgics, in conclusion = go there !!

There are others that I don't really know the location: One on Centre Street near metro Charlevoix (south side of the road), another one on Beaubien st East.

Hope it helps you, and enjoy Montreal !!
