I love so many things that the Polish take for granted and want to protect.

Exactly!
They don't know how good they have it most of the time.

I have had a lot of Polish workers alongside me recently some extoll Poland and some are buying property back home. Certainly some bemoan life at home. Isn't that common to the world? When the British housing boom took off I took big risks to join it. Some Poles take the risk others do not. The risk may well take excessive hour work for many years as is the case the world over.

As a number of the English (plus Canadians, Americans and Irish) buying in Poland have Polish fathers or mothers at what point do they not become Polish?

We dont want foreigners in Poland buying out our homes, go home english GO HOME and leave us alone. And dont tell me I didnt want you, Poles dont want you here bloody capitalists.

Hmm.

Both my parents are from Poland, and Polish (though the large noses and dark hair may suggest just a *little* ethnic mixing at some time in the past ;) ). They moved to the UK between the 1940s and mid-1960s. My mum and stepdad (who is also Polish) own a house in the UK. I was born here, though.

So is it OK for me to move to Poland and buy property there, or am I also to be regarded as a "greedy capitalist foreigner"? Or are you and your crew going to burn down my flat and stab me up for being foreign?

The longer I spend in Poland, the more I realise how Polish I actually am, irrespective of where I was actually born. I love my country, but I can't and won't deny my roots or ethnicity.

Now I know how black and Asian people feel when they are told "f*** off back to where you came from", when in fact they and their parents are actually from Birmingham. :D

When you move to poland live and work here it is ok but I am against foreigners who "invest" in Poland, do not live in Poland and buy only to sell when pice is right or keep flats empty while young polish people have no money to buy their own because they are too expensive. It do nothing good to its economy but push pices up.

Capitalists NO

People who want to work and live here YES

Ask english if they have to work 24 h to buy a 30m2 flat after 30 years of work?

Actually as a single girl with no deposit and several jobs just to make ends meet, yes, actually, I have to work every hour that god sends to pay my way..as for buying a house in England on my own.. hah!! fat chance..

Am I right to point out that if there is a problem with Americans buying Polish property...then perhaps the Polish people who are against the practice should be talking to those selling. I am traveling to Poland in a week. I was hesitant and not that interested when first planning. My views changed when I learned more of what the Polish people have gone through in history. I am proud to be spending my money in a country that obviously needs it. I've not yet read anything from an American who is disgruntled about Polish people buying property in Chicago...or anywhere else in USA for that matter. We haven't always been a wealthy country and we don't have a never ending source of land either. Our business in USA has several properties in the USA that we will sell to whoever is able to buy it.

I am a English man in My 20's, I am married to a Polish woman who i met in England.
However i vitisted Poland many times before i knew her, I first went to Poland when i was 17.

I own 3 propertys in Poland and own my own House in London. So i know the Polish housing market quite well... The EU has made prices rise... I was looking to Build my own house, but the building material have gone up three times more than what they where just a few years ago, so that has also pushed prices up..

Most young people in england face the same problem of being priced out of the Housing market, I am totally sure that the Polish housing market is only going to grow not drop.

I think some of the comments in this topic are very narrow mindeed.

Anyone telling Ola or other local Poles that she is narrow minded for defending her country vs. enterprising foreigners really has no clue. Because she is completely right.

Allowing people from Europe, America or other countries to swoop in like vultures and purchase Polish land simply for the purpose of holding it as a personal investment opportunity creates artificial and needless inflation within that country.

This is a travesty to the indigenous people who have very few natural economic benefits to begin with and obviously dont have their government working on their behalf. Land is limited, no two ways about it. Let Poland's land and housing prices rise naturally based on local investment.

Here in the UK the average person can no longer afford to buy a house. I earn above average wage and I could only afford half a house - the rest my parents gave me. The prices started going up around 1998. In 1997 I was offered a house for £95,000. Now that same house is worth £400,000. This is because people are buying houses, renovating them cheaply and renting them or selling for profit. It's pure greed. A house should be purchased by people to live in and raise families. Now the same thing is going on in Poland.

The weasels in America who borrowed too much are finally getting their behinds burned, the housing meltdown is here, no money to borrow, no buyers and the fool speculators are losing money as values decrease/ No more easy gains, the party is over.

A **great** thing in my opinion.

I agree that these people are parasites but at the same rate your people come over to England and undercut the pay rates that our unions fought hard for. Also Polish families are draining our welfare state by getting housing after hardly even paying into the system, even i can't even get housing because i have no kids and not enough points. I've just been looking at some Pole's on TV that have bought several houses over here in Newcastle to let them out. It works both ways so i'd say to you go home!

Well looks like the Polish have small-minded people to, there are 1.2 million Polish moved to the UK! I hope they don’t receive the same treatment as you are prepared to hand out?

Of course a lot of what you are saying is somewhat similar to the growth of Hitler before the war in the 1930's. I am against an expanded Europe because it is undemocratic and the British have never been asked. In Poland as a foreigner they treat you as a second class citizen but it always works for them when the 'tables are turned'. Now in Brussels England has two votes and Poland has one but they want the same rights as the U.K. Why? So the Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia can vote for something and win simply by majority and England will end up footing the bill. I have seen it all before. This is probably why Germany does not want the Poles and feels the same as me-they should work at home to build a better future for themselves.
