Whoever got the money will take it over. Possibly "the winners" will be: 1. Foreigners with cash. 2. Poles working abroad with cash. 3. Rich Poles living in Poland. The rest are the average Polish working class (80%) who will afford to pay off M-3 apartment throughout their lives. In result I'm not surprised Ola or her peers from Poland could be anxious..

I read once in a magazine about Egyptian Housing Sector being the best towards its young citizen. If it is really so, then our government can discuss their success! Or find alternatives. We need to work out a solution, all of us together!

Reality Check Thanks for the warning and welcome to a global economy Ola. Other European countries have had immigration and inward investment problems for years but violence is not the answer. My own children suffer from not being able to buy property where they have grown up because middle-management move out of the suburbs for a more “country” life. The space they leave is taken up by social climbers from the cities or their houses are rented to immigrants as flats. I work in a city whose newspaper has a Polish supplement – even though there are fewer Poles than Asians or Afro-Caribbean immigrants there. Churches in some areas cannot put up bible texts because “it offends other faiths” (Muslim & Hindu), Christmas decorations in the office are allowed to be “festive” but must not be “religious”, some workers cannot wear a crucifix because “it offends other faiths”, all the taxi drivers are now Pakistani, because they have shut out everyone else out of the business and Japanese own the best golf courses. So, do I teach my children that everyone is equal and not to be judgemental? Or do I teach them intolerance and xenophobia? I know I’m old and therefore unwelcome in these forums – but I was a lurker for some time and thought it more honest to declare myself. I am also in a position to influence young Brits, help my young Polish friends (yes I have several of them) and even buy a holiday property in Poland if I feel like it. And of course the investors you have to fear most, are rich expatriates from former Soviet countries who have truly embraced capitalism in its most extreme form. So go right ahead, burn down the holiday homes and stone the holidaymakers in Poland; but you will lose, because they can afford insurance and security and while they rebuild, you will be in jail. You have a long term choice too – High security foreign owned estates of luxury homes, shops and hospitals with you locals shut outside, or an integrated society. Your destiny is in your own hands.

Thanks Clunkshift. The best formed reply so far I think. The thing that has angered me the most so far is the wealth of racism. Words cannot explain my anger towards this! Poland is getting it's apparently first taste of this kind of problem of being allowed to move freely around other countries. So many Polish have taken this to its full advantage and the ones that are left in Poland and want to voice an opinion appear to be intollerant of multi culturalism. Accept it and grow up! Every other Country has, or has had to over come this problem, even though most of us are related in some way over the last 2000 years of free movement across europe and indeed the world. Border control is relatively a modern inconvienience! I have Polish friends in England and in Poland. No (big) problem with racism or any such, the general view is that people are people, regardless of what language they speak. A little effort goes along way. Trying goes alot further than achieving. "summery justice" from Hullo... Just like the KKK from the deep south of America?, how warming that your sentiments are not just for black people but anyone who doesn't speak Polish as their mother tongue. At least your consistent?!? I hope this doesn't offend too many people, and I will seriously pull back on my full use of the swear words available to me in English, Polish or French ... PRICK!

its glad to hear some reason here. while i agree with certain sentiments (bug rob for eg ) its no good us giving them 'a reason'. better to try, try, try again with eductation. we are all aware that if the poles could buy the land at a price they could afford...they WOULD then sell the land to ANYONE who was willing to pay a higher price! so DUH i say and the comment about the russians, true, they have to a large degree accepted capitalism, there are more russian millionaires made each year! (granted i think most are under dubious conditions - look at abramovich! - oil! - and he owns an english football club, they LOVE him there, as he was able to give it SOOOO much needed funds!) so its par for the course, you only like investment if your winning and you act like a bigot when you are not. its like playschool! i appreciate your fears about rising costs but its not a reason to start 'summery (KKK) justice' (also NAZI style BTW!!!) and xenophobia!

Clunkshift, Well put, here in America the pc crowd is deafining. Political correctness is a cancer from hell. We are to be free but freedom of expression is out the window so we do not offend. If I can not wear my crucifix because someone may be offended, I might as well be ashamed of my Polish heritage!! I should not try to speak Polish because it may offend people who can not, ....How impugnitly disgusting is this bulls**t!!, I am so sick and tired that someone may be offended, first of all I havent come accross one person who told me my crucifix has offended them, basically they are agnostics, and want everyone to believe as they, as well as Atheiests who believe there is no God. Well I am proud to be Polish and proud to say I love God and I will wear it on my sleave. N man will ever take that right from me. So these people may be few but here in America they use the word "unconstitutional" to get their brandof religion into play, which is none. A neutral, neutered society, No longer do morals and norms play in society, but PC, socialism and fear of trying to convert others to Christianity. Resist these things as much as you can, because if the church can not post Christian text becasue it might offend...get this..Jesus said it would offend, so it is simple, since it does allready and before PC ever came around, lets just do it anyway, because I dont think you will find a muslim, or anyone from a different faith actually attend your church, it would be heresey for them and a muslim risks death. So lets resist the extermination of our Christian beliefs.. The signs of the times are here!! Hold on !!

These foreign investor can still buy more property, but at a more 600 times tax per square meter. After 500 square meter, this tax must keep tripling. However, the common Pole , should also have limits (larger area limits), but pay less for the land and have more support from private and public institutions. Specially students should be more incouraged to invest in the housing sector (university students). We should have to pay only 100 times more tax per square meter, After 1000 square meter, our tax should keep doubling. HOWEVER, OUR PURCHASE PRICE MUST BE ATLEAST 2/3 OF THE PRICE THAT THE FOREIGHNER (OR THE EXPAT, WORKER ABROAD) MUST PAY (EXCLUDING THE TAXES). This is just fare. And our youth need it. Hopefully you can add more of your ideas without feeling attacked here. My post is meant for the average student population of Poland.

Your comment over my post does not match. I am talking about property, and you are talking about Jobs. We have to allow housing for all (specially those who are inside Poland and not moving out). Ordinary Poles must be able to have a home! I hope you do accept that. I know we should work alot harder... but our country is not UK or USA right now. However, this dont stop from our basic need of housing. Be it any resident (from any race). But this person (if planning to stay in Poland and call it home) need a roof over his head which he can call his own! And that also through his average income. About the international job market, its a completely different issue. There we compete for a job in a market abundant with jobs. It is not that someone is without a Job! If that someone (British resident) is without a job, then your government should come ahead and solve his problem. I am talking about the Basic here.

We need to improve and compete with this modern world (I agree), but at the same time, keep housing-medication and food within the reach of the working average resident of Poland (who buys for residential purpose, where he can bring in the family and stay).

If the EU is not right for Poland then elect a government that will take you out of the EU. I would be interested to learn of a successful protectionist policy. Of course we sympathise with the plight of young people in Poland because as BW has said, the problem is far worse in the UK. We have finance companies offering five or six times salary for a mortgage which is ludicrous.
