Looking to purchase an apartment in tri city area. Receiving mortgage?

olamonkey   Feb 17, 09, 20:38 /  #
My husband and I are looking to buy an apartment in the try city area, Gdansk or Gdynia possibly, but we have not lived in Poland for many years. We are originally from there but have resided in the Usa for the past 14 years. How would we go about receiving mortgage in Poland? Please help... :)

It's not easy now... Without getting a job first and working at least 6 months for a high enough salary I doubt that there's any chance.

Not true Grzegorz.

Olamonkey, there are still around 5 banks in Poland which will consider applications from non-residents who earn money outside of Poland. Being Polish will help you, but more important will be your quality as an applicant - size of income and place of work, amount of liabilities etc.

Grzegorz has right.
I tried to apply for a loan for my boss who is Englishman (he is running a business in Poland) three months ago, and that was impossible.

That is one case. I am not saying that every foreigner can qualify for a mortgage in Poland, but some can. Two of my clients were approved this month for mortgages. It is difficult at the moment, but not impossible.
