First date!! Some advice required on what to say and what to do.

what is your hometown like?

how are your family?

what would you like to drink?

any others would be helpful :)

just to put her at ease and forget that i dont know any polish and make her open up a little

Ok so I have just started (and i mean quite literally just the other day) to see this polish girl. We only met a few weeks ago at a party but already Im feeling something good about me and her. Anyway I asked her out on a date and much to my suprise she agreed! I'm just very unsure of what to do, with regards anything!! I have tried to learn a bit of polish-have the basics, hello, goodbye, you look nice etc her english is ok but sometimes she struggles, and in conversation my polish is terrible! What can i say/do that will make her think that i am worth her time? also she is absolutely beautiful and i would like to tell her that and be able to pronounce it! Thanks!!!

Hahah all good suggestions! Thank you, i shall see how the date goes and choose a line depending on how drunk she is and how many pickles she eats, also no cheese-she is lactose intolerant! :P

Chcesz pić? is too informal. Phonetically, it's htsesh, not with the k I'd say.

czego się napijesz is really good but still you are not supposed to know such things - memorising phrases wihtout knowing much background (when and why you should use such and not such etc etc) is a sign of not being genuine - be yourself and just greet her with cześć from time to time it is informal and friendly enough - you don't want to be formal with someone who you want to be closer with, do you? btw if a Pole wants to ask another Pole if s/he is thirsty, s/he says 'Chce ci się pić?' literally Do you want to drink? just to show you literal translation very often don't do the thing

I think you want to ask her those questions in English. She won't forget you don't know any Polish because she already knows that you can't speak Polish. Stick with English and don't frighten her off on the first date with too much attempts at Polish. You can tell her she is beautiful in English and that you hope, in time, to be able to say this in Polish too. She will be more impressed by that. Have a good time though, relax and I hope this is the beginning of something special for you both. :)

I see you are in Manchester there are a million and one things to do...take her to Dukes, you can sit outside and enjoy the sun and treat her to some pate, nice bread and a nice bottle of wine, not as formal as a full on meal and probably much more relaxed! Then you can go for a strole along the canal side...

I have this mail-order wife I purchase at a high price from somewhere over there in Europe , but when I take her out of the mailbox - she speaks no English ! She broken or something , no work correctly in the head . I give her a kiss on her cheek and say .... " moj hrvatski ona vrag JA udarac dlanom ploštimice taj magarac noćašnji !! " but 'nothing' , she just looks at me blankly . No matter how often , or how vigorously I hit her , she will not understand me . I think to myself ....,, "hmmmm......your little half-brothers are all a bunch of Pomeranians , maybe they can tell me what to say to her to make her work right ! " AHA ! YES ! SUCCESS ! Here is what they told me to say to her , I am not fluent in polska , so I might spell this wrong so be patient , but this is how it sounds (phonetik ?) When you arrive say to her " mąż " , then look her in the eye confidently and say this greeting ..... "DAHME PIWO KUDVA ! " ( this will get her attention and make her blush brightly in the face , and she will get up fast to catch her breath and maybe get you a soft drink coca-cola or something , maybe get you a beer like mine got for me ) and when she goes to do that you compliment her clothes like this ( say it real slow and nice , but kind of like the Fonz from on Happy Days on the T.V. ) " Dubja dupa babycakes " ....and then you are (how its said..'in-like-Flynn' ? ) Then my brothers told me it is very important to custom , to gently wake her in the morning ( If all goes well ) and you must kiss a $5 dollar bill ( or Euro-money , rubbles ? ) and put it between her breasts gently & whisper in her ear ..... " tutaj ........wynagradzać te mleczarz . " And she will think you are like the James Bond 007 !! You can thank me later and I will thank my little brothers .

PainBrush: PainBrush ha ha what a nutcase, don't listen to him Being a Polish girl i can suggest, as someone else suggested already, that you don't use too much Polish because so what that you know how to say and ask a few things if she will still have to answer in English? you won't understand if she answers in Polish so maybe leave learning useful phrases for when you - hopefully - form a relationship and start getting to know each other better. You can of course tell her Cześć, jak się masz? (chesh-ch yeack sheh mash) - hi how are you? or Pięknie wyglądasz (pyek-nye vee-glo-dash) - you look beautiful, but try to enjoy yourselves and don't forget about body language ;), also maybe even bring a notebook so if she doesn't get something you can draw it for her and vice versa ha ha, that would be funny. Be creative, listen to her and make her laugh.

Right well i have learnt them off by heart now, thank you for the advice-one more thing though is that theres a slight age gap between me and this girl, only like 2 years but does that matter to polish women? I hate to seem like I am stereotyping but she has brought it up once or twice in a conversation?
