Is it really possible for a Polish man to be just friends with a woman?

I have three Polish male friends, whom I am very fond of. They are all younger than me. They have all, at one time or another, flirted with me.

One friend, who sent me poems, has stopped emailing me all of a sudden. We emailed regularly once a month. I called him last month (he's in Poland) on the phone -- I'm wondering if this surprised him. But why can't I call? We're just friends -- I'm not pursuing him. But perhaps he feels threatened just because I am a woman. Why should this dynamic still be in play?

Another friend feels he can drop over to my house anytime he wants. But he never does anything I ask him to do. So I told him I was going to be a bit busy and I would let him know when my schedule freed up (I've learned enough never to be openly mean to a man!). He fell for it. What I'd really like to do is make him a bit less selfish so he and I can do some things together that I want to do, instead of him coming over, eating my food, and mouthing off like he usually does.

This is the point: even in friendship, men still act like men, and women like women. Women still have to be somewhat manipulative to get the relationship to be "fair".

Polish husbands are jealous of wife's male friends, so you better say goodbye to them... So don't get married and then you can have male friends.

so it's not only about Polish men, but about men in general....

Nah...unless its clearly spelt out to them.....1 metre high neon lights........sorta thing, then men (assuming they have a smidgeon of testosterone) will always make a play for a girl.....friendship/sexual relationship very interchangeable and confusing for some.........!!!

So rather than be mean...be honest, and eventually your changing group of male friends will be somewhat eunuch like towards you........

Result!

I do to. I'm not sure why this is. It's also true that I have more Polish male friends than Polish female friends. So yes, Polish men can be just friends with women, although in my experiences, I hug my Polish male friends more than my British male friends. Not sure why this might be either.

LOL. I am in about 30 that I wasn't aware of.

I have one really good female friend and the rest of my peeps are guys. You can trust a male. Yes you can have great friendships with the opposite sex.

Believing people to be the same in so many ways the world over, especially relatively culturally similar places such as Poland and Britain,
I shall assume the answer to be a simple yes.

Osiol, your sweet donkey face makes me smile. Did you ever read "A Midsummer Night's Dream."? In it, a beautiful fairy falls in love with a donkey.

I guess the real question is: "Is it really possible for ANY man to be just friends with a woman?"

The answer is: for a straight man, absolutely NOT. We are all sexual beings. A man with a female "friend" is just keeping her on a back burner "just in case". That's the truth.
In case of a gay man (and I'm talking about a 100% flaming gay and not a bi-sexual man), women are best friends with. The reason: no sexual tension like with a straight man, but also there is no competitiveness and biatch-iness like there is amongst women

enough of wasting time with you. ok, i'll repeat for those who say "men and women cant be friends." read below and if u were in that stiuation, what would u do?

nomaderol:
my biggest enemy is a woman. but, she looks like breathless now. shall i give a life kiss to her or not? if i do, i'll be considered friend and will lose her, maybe, my act can be considered as gayish if i listen to your words that seem to be manly? if i dont give life kiss, i'll lose her. in both cases, it seems i'll lose her. what to do... (talk is easy.)

friendships with Polish men don't seem to work for me. have a lot of English guy friends and they're basically like brothers to me but not the Polish guys, i find that they are a bit full on even if they know you're not single. a few girls i know complained about this too. i work with this Polish guy and i'm being nice to him because we see each other every day etc. but he takes my niceness the wrong way and basically stalks me. it's kinda creepy and annoying at the same time because we already established i'm not interested in him 'like that'. he's quite lonely and i do feel sorry for him, but the last time i invited him to go out with my flatmate and a bunch of English people, he ended up having more than half a bottle of vodka and a few pints, got thrown out from the bar we were in because he refused to stop smoking inside, then he walked off, got in his car and drove home! idiot...

It's not posible for ANY man on this world to have a totally friendly relationship with a woman, especially when she is atractive.

Really.

It's because Poles are more hugable.

Of course it's possible to be 'friends' with the opposite sex; but I run into the following problem: some women get upset with me because I don't make a move on them. They display this with passive-aggressive attitudes.

what i dont get is...

if i plan to take her to bed, i'll be considered as a brother if i act friendly, hence never bed?

to avoid that,

if i plan to take her to bed, i should act as fiendly/enemy? then, how will taking her to bed be possible? some fake wars? but, fake wars not for me, if war, should be real war.. then, never bed.

either you or i knotting myself.

oh, you know what she means. Women have friends who are guys and they are like brothers. She will never date one because women don't date their brothers. Men hate it when women say "I love you like I would love a brother" but oh, well. Women can't go around loving everyone in that special "relationship" way.

but, it seems (from words of many guys and gals here) that when i approach friendly i will be considered like a brother, and this fears me. what to do. (and if i order meals, give gifts, etc.., i fear i'll be considered as a father.) it seems that only way of sexual relation is to be enemy of woman i am after. but, then, i cant be a fake enemy. what to do.

we've been friends for a good few years now, no advances have been made from either side and when people casually ask (as they do lol) 'so have you never...??' we're like noooo we're basically family. when i used to work part time in a pub i'd hang out with a bunch of guys, we went to partys and each other's houses and none of them ever hit on me once. friendship between men and women is possible as long as either of the sides has no hidden intentions or expectations.

if you haven't got a grasp on differentiating between flirting and being being friendly or treating and sponsoring then maybe that's why women run a mile from you or pretend they have vaginismus. think about it. and stop being so damn creepy, it's uncomfortable.
