Seanus:
I kept my distance before going into the room and going through with it.

And it would be wise to employ the same tactics at the birth of your first child;)

Many congratulations to you and your wife Seanus.

Thanks, Szarly, much appreciated! The kid is for later, it likely won't be delivered until 2011 but I won't discuss this too much on an open forum.

Polish Girls are no longer this what they was once!!! I live in Cracow and know what I'm talking about, the girls are like American girls. I should go to a small mountain village, I'm sure the girls there are more religious and traditional. k98_manYou look like 16, you know a girl who you want marry already?

Vows are obligatory of course. There CAN BE no opt-out because you are entering into special promises.

There must be witnesses as it's a procedural requirement.

then, if somehow i have to marry, i will have to take her out of poland. any country with vowless marriage? (here in turkey, it is possible formally in an office in some minutes, but, still 2 witnesses are needed.) marriage with no vows and no witness, just submitting paperworks, finished. anywhere where this is possible?

Not in any civilised country I know of, nomad. Witnesses attest to the consummation of marriage and you can't circumvent that, it just is.

Tell me, what use is a marriage without any vows? It's the whole point, to solemnly declare and affirm your commitment to your partner.

I suggest getting married to a horse, nomad. See how you go and be sure to send me a postcard from the village honeymoon ;) ;)

Seanus Not the marriage, the marriage and vows in Poland are the best. I mean something different, but you are an American, it does not make sense to discuss with you about this, you can't understand this.

Aha, ok, that's news to me but nevermind :) I'll get my parents to change my birth certificate and the US authorities to somehow recognise me as an American.

I've just undertaken the process of marriage in Poland, it'll be 4 weeks on Saturday.

I don't remember asking you a goddamn thing ;) ;) (Pulp Fiction)

Well I am 19 (as of today) not 16, but I might have an idea.

But my reference was more of the fact I like the idea of saying the vows in another language to affirm your love/commitment to your loved one (whomever it may be).

It is a nice thing but be mindful of the need to show an understanding of those words. I spent the night before my wedding saying them with English foremost in my mind, i.e using Polish but feeling the sense in English.

Yeah they are worthless without it in some ways.

In almost all ways I'd say. Otherwise, it'd be like a contract with no value.

OK, it takes some time as you will no doubt be aware. I have even memorised the lines so, when the right time comes around, I'll be ready to pass them on.

Russian scammers are all over the place , but they are pretty easy to suss out , i can smell em in an instant.... Usually they are very young , very pretty , and instantly fall in love with the 60 year old fat British guy they write to...Yeah right..?

My lady is a little older , very pretty , but definatly not a scammer , my ex girlfriend in the UK studied at the same university that my lady teaches at , so i know for sure she is genuine...Besides , she knows i don,t have any money , and she still wants me...

Did you make your own Polish vows Seanus? Or with the help of your (now) wife?

Nah, she downloaded a copy of the standard text from the net. Tekst przysięgi I think it was called.

Aware of the laws and obligations resulting from the formation/consummation/establishing of family, I solemnly declare that, upon entering into the relationship of marriage with X, I swear that I will do everything in my power to make our marriage agreeable, happy and lasting.

Exactly, that's it k98_man
