hi everybody I'm new to this forum, hope you can help me. This is going to sound really racist and trust me I am not a racist but here goes. I have been seeing a Polish man for the past 2 months the relationship is quite new but we knew each other as workmates for a while. The trouble is his drinking, he wants to go out drinking after work every night and I just don't, I liek a drink and I love getting hammered and clubbing but at the weekends only!! He has called me a lightweight and useless and that most polish women can drink himunder the table and whats wrong with me?? made jokes that I need to be trained to drink! we were planning to rent a place together but now Im having second thoughts. the other night he was staying at my house and he was sick all over the bedroom floor, I told him to clean it up but he said f*** off that's your job!! we argued some more and he pushed me really hard and bruised me :0( My sister says I should dump him but is this just how Polish men are?? I think i love him help!!!

Sounds like a fairly typical small town Polish guy to me. The over-fondness of booze, the thinking that all work around the flat is to be done by women, the willingness to use physical force to make a point, all classic stuff. There is a very good reason why expats in smaller Polish cities tend to get girlfriends who would be far out of their league back home (and it now has bugger all to do with getting a passport / greencard).

If he's like this now when you're in the wonderful first stage of a relationship, how is he going to be in a few years time? Sounds very much to me like you need to tell him to go fuck himself.

He sounds like a narrow-minded neanderthal, kick him to the curb/kerb. A man who cannot respect that a woman has work commitments during the week isn't worth the time of day. Getting hammered and loose is sth to look forward to at the end of the week. Take the novelty away and you take the spice out of it.

Many Polish men are hard-working sorts and honourable. As I have said many times before, many idiots went abroad and just went wild. They work their asses off to get their vodka and good times. So be it, just don't let it drag you down.

You seem to be a typical case of a woman who likes being brutalised by men. Some males are aware of it and try to find out which woman goes for that.
If you love him and want to keep him, close your eyes and in advance forgive him all beatings, abuses, adultery and mistreatment of your person in the future.

That`s what love is !!!!! It is so beautiful!! I think I am gonna cry.....

You don`t know what true love means!!! It is loving your partner despite all their misfortunes!

She will get a dog. Dogs like such stuff. In the morning it will be all clean. Simple.

Pawian, you have a point but that's a nice ideology. A heavy drinker often presents insurmountable practical problems. You can't accuse Justy of sth that many people don't even know. Look at the songwriters and people who have wrestled with what true love is. Listen to Foreigner, I Want to Know What Love Is. Or 10cc, I'm Not In Love

Sorry, but love songs are bullshit. I know Foreigner but never went into their lyrics too deeply.

True love is when you suffer beatings, abuses, offences etc for years and constantly try to correct your partner and never give up!!! When you finally succeed, e.g., the husband stops drinking on his death day, then you may say the true love has conquered all!!!!

It is so simple and I really don`t know why you can`t find it out for yourself.... :):):)

So you are suggesting that I should beat up my fiancee, abuse her and somehow emerge a hero?

It worked in my parent's case but not in all.

Love songs are BS? Outlining their experiences. Let me guess, Catholic love songs are golden.

I think i love him help!!!

Well, if you think that love is getting told to clean up puke and being shoved around then you go for it girl!

In reality, I think you know the truth. What exactly DO YOU love about him? What are his good points? Does he have any? He's just goading you with this stuff about how much you should be drinking, he wants some justification for his drinking around you and if you start to drink as much as he does he has that justification.

Dump him and do it soon...

pawian, those posts are most unlike you and I hope they're tongue in cheek or something.

Let's guess what Pawian has been drinking. Sth heavy like Porter. Not a habit but has led to bad outcomes.

I didn`t drink at all yesterday. I am ill, the flu-like desease has come over me, I have shivers and all my muscles hurt. I am not in the mood for drinking.

Sometimes sarcasm works more efficiently than plain honest advice. Do you think she will follow your advice: dump him, dump him?? Of course not.
Don`t you understand there is a category of women ready to suffer all insults in order to be with this one man??? They prefer being beaten by them than being alone. It is sad but true.
How much are you all going to bear/put up with just to be with this chosen one?

If a lot, it means true love. Love isn`t only for good times and happy moments.

True true, women should think ahead and buy themselves good jaw protectors and helmets, possibly also life insurance, girls these days just dont think ahead.

Here's a bit of a suggestion, when he goes to sleep after one of his "heavy" nights, hit him really hard with a blunt object...if he wakes in the morning with bruises and pains, he'll never know how he got them...Simples!!!

Give it a rest Katy. We all like to dip our hands into the Polish cookie barrel now and again but this sounds like you're getting slapped around by an abusive drunk. That's not love, that's desperation. Stop being so stupid and get some distance from him.

Sounds to me more like the boy has a maturity problem than it is a cultural issue. But then, I keep hearing how Polish boys are known for these sort of things.

Every girl deserves to be cherished and treated well. Dump him. He will only hit you more. Life is too short for bad dogs and bad boys.

It looks like he has a problem with alcohol.

Kick him in the ass as he has to reach the escape velocity.

Katy:

Polish men are hard-working, money-obsessed guys. They work from dawn to dusk, take overtime and then sleep like a stone. They don't have a time for drinking and above all they love their driving licences ;)
