German men who find foreign women attractive have this instinct and I think it's connected to the evolutionary process. If it weren't beneficial to our species, we would only be attracted to our neighbors and the people inhabiting our immediate surroundings. However, that's hardly the case. Not everyone is going to be this way. The ones who are I call "programmed increasers" their genes are preprogrammed to diversify the local gene pool by seeking out partners they know have genes that aren't so close to their own. Variation is the key.
