Does anybody else think the movie Defiance is a big lie?

How can a people be seen as over represented in all the professions (doctors, lawyers the arts) and be seen as parasites? Surely if they werent in occupations but were unemployed they would be parasites, not the opposite. Seems like they cant win either way.

If a people still stands out like a sore thumb after 1500 years of living in the host country...sorry...it can't be only always the fault of the "dumb", "stupid" natives! PS: Germany has a great record about scientists, artists, musicians etc...we did that at the same time as our industrious workers toiled in the factories and our farmers brought bread on the tables. No Jews needed!

Bratwurst Boy: They should have integrated and assimilated as any other european people did... Other European peoples werent restricted to particular occupations. Its difficult to integrate with a community when you're stopped from working with them. I cant deny Jews have an insular mentality but I'm just not sure which came first- the insularity or the imposed restrictions.

At the time I made my Bachelor's Study from the Warsaw Rising of 1944. First I did make myself familiar with the social sphere in Warsaw of that time. These statistics I took from study made by English historian Joanna Hanson in 1980's called "Civilian population and the Warsaw Uprising of 1944". % Catholic / Jewish Working classes 66 / 50 Lower middle classes 26 / 47 Upper classes 8 / 3 (1/3 of Warsaw population were Jewish) I don't see "parasites" on that picture, but naturally we are all free to make our own conclusions from the facts.

The Bielskis were Jewish partisans, who, among other things, murdered Polish farmers, weren't they? They bragged about it after the war in a book they wrote, didn't they? Their book enabled the Polish authrities to open an investigation of the atrocities. The Jewish authors praise the Bielskis as great heroes. Why are the Bielskis being referred to in the media as 'Polish partisans'? I find it very offensive.

I didn't read much of Jews toiling in factories....who is the lazy one here? Funny, read about places like Łodż where a large number of workers were Jewish. An earlier poster Husaria: The movie itself has a lot of mistakes like how does the main character speak Russian if hes a eastern pole?Why is Russian spoken throughout but everything written is polish? Well Eastern Poland was part of Russia before 1917 so I imagine more than a few folk spoke Russian (more than a few of the old folk I've met from modern east Poland speak Russian, Polish and/or Belorussian). Many Jews spoke Russian. The witer Shalom Alechem wrote in Yiddish but spoke Russian at home.

Wrong again, Yehudi. Please quote me on that. What I said rather clearly was that killing innocent women and children is a war crime. Self defence and the proportionality of responses are 2 separate areas. Yehudi, a different tack 4 ya. Why didn't you retaliate by just stinging them a bit first by firing the same rockets back at them? They'd get a taste of their own medicine. Why the destructive bombing campaign which will cost sb a heck of a lot of cash to repair? The point I've been making all along is that civilian casualties are inevitable but I think that over 1000 dead and 4000 injured is de trop (too much), wouldn't you say?

The university in Olsztyn was formerly the psychiatric hospital of Allenstein and the patients and doctors were disposed of. I don't think the movie ever suggested that they were 'saving Poland', they were simply saving themselves. I'll ask you the same thing I asked everyone who didn't agree with them. What would you do in there situation?
