Does anyone have kaszub , kaszebe media?

YANTA   Dec 3, 06, 17:55 /  #
I'm polish/ kaszub myself and was wondering if anyone has any MP3's or commericals of the language. My dad knows it but gives me funny responses when I ask him to speak lol. I spoke a little when I was a kid but lost most of it . Since the language is rare and being diluted into normal polish thats all we get around here.

I think it's hard to understand the kaszub slang (even though it's Polish in a way).

I just googled "kaszubian" and there are lots of websites in English, so perhaps you can find sg useful

I have tried the whole google thing. Yes alote of things are strange to polish , but many are also the same. Not even sure what to use as an example.

Hmm potatoes

polish: kartofel
kaszub: bowa (not sure if i spelt that right) , but we also say kartofel and somthing else i cant remember off hand

szien dobry , jak sie masz , etc is all the same though I have never heard any kaszub speaking relitves use the word "czesz" . PIWO is almost non existant but I always hear PIWA .

SKLEP=BASEMENT but I hear nowadays this has changed , sklep shirt , sklep radio etc.

sounds kind of bizzare to me, but it is a small community, yet very alive - I wish I can help more

Not sure but apperantly older polish people refer to sklep as basement also.

A guy I work with from poland laughed in shock when I asked him if sklep meant basement. He was about 40kms away from the capitol. Anyways he claimed his grandfather used that term to describe basement. But nobody uses it anymore. He was the one who told me sklep shirt , sklep radio ,etc.

there is a possibilty that sklep used to be in the basement long time ago, however I really don't want to guess. I though youwere interested in Kaszubian language, the guy you were working with didn't make too much sense but what do I know

I am but also like to see the differences ,etc. He speaks very poor english but was trying to describe that sklep means other things i guess.
