British celebs that are bigger in Poland than in Britain

Are there any British artists, musicians or actors who are more popular in Poland than they are in their home country, or spend a lot of time there?

In the same way that Depeche Mode is much bigger in Germany, the Nolans in Japan and Norman Wisdom in Albania.

I know that Nigel Kennedy spends a lot of time in Krakow - but are there any others?

there was a famous conductor on telly the other day. he lives here. but he's not famous enough for me to remember his name. He was in an advertisement for some Polish city, if I remember correctly.

Fish from Marillion has some connection with Poland. There was a time when he was always on the radio here. Not songs, but in the studio interviews.

Marillion's album covers were awful. Then Fish went solo, released a single (a version of Thunderclap Newman's "Something in the Air") with a large plastic sleeve embossed with a penguin, as if to make up for years of Marillion sleeve hell.

My ex girlfriends sister is married to Chris norman , who for those who are not Smokie fans was the lead singer , and wrote many of the songs...Smokie toured Poland in their heyday , and one memorable moment they had was of throwing all their spare money to the crowds in a Polish city rather than take it back to UK...Chris now has his own band , and is a big star in Germany , recently he was on Polish tv in some sort of quiz show...dont, hear much of him on UK tv....He is a really down to earth nice guy , and two years back i asked him if he could do a signed picture for a Polish friend who is a Smokie fan...Chris got out not some publicity pics , but personal photo,s and some cd,s for my friend , and signed em...made a Polish guy very happy....If you were a smokie fan , check out Chris norman on the net...still has that Smokie sound , but i think its better....

He did an album with Suzi quatro , but i don,t think they are best buddies really.....She lives in Hamburg , and Chris lives in the isle of man...His band are all Germans , and he has a studio there....

I think you are right , but don,t know where his house is , Nigel manson lives just up the road from Chris , and British superbike world champion rider Neil hodgson and his wife Catherine live yards away....If i had lots of dosh...i would live there too...but i don,t...so i live in Poland.....

Ha...i have their phone numbers and email address too....funny enough they have not had problems with stalkers in the way that tv and film stars seem to do...racing people are nice people....

There's a Polish fireman, who came originally from Britain called Kevin Aiston who appears on a rather downmarket TV programme about immigrants from within the EU here and also does a radio breakfast show.

I rarely watch TV, so have no real no idea what he's all about, but he has a huge following here in Warsaw, and a couple of people who've mentioned him to me are astounded that he isn't famous in the UK.

yes he started of in Poland as a fireman, first seen him being interviewed by Michael Palin when he visited in his polish documentary last year.

There was a programme on Polish TV a few years ago in which foreign folk were invited to take part. The programme was basically about making fools of people who couldn't speak Polish very well.

Kevin may have started out on that programme. I'm not sure.
