BULLYING IN UK AND POLAND?

I'm not sure there is really a Polish word for bullying, but it does go on. Bullying somehow seems very British, but I'm sure it is a global phenomenon.
Can any teachers or former pupils who have had such experiences comment on this? Better yet, compare the situation in Poland and the UK.
A fairly recent addition to the lexicon is the term mobbing. Wouldn't that really be little more than an adult workplace form of bullying which is more psyhcological than physical.

But "znęcać się" has a wider meaning than bullying, doesn't it.
Re the sentence "M±ż pijak znęca się nad rodzin±..."
wouldn't we speak of domestic violence or physical abuse rather than bullying.

Yes. That would be something like "The drunken husband takes it out on his family" or "The drunken husband mistreats his family", but I think that "The drunken husband bullies his family" could work as well.

Tyranizować/tyranizuje doesn't seem quite appropriate, though.

There is no generally accepted equivalent in Polish for 'bully' or 'bullying'.

That doesn't mean they don't exist here or that it doesn't happen in schools.

I once read a quote by Winston Churchill who suggested that bulying was something quintessentially typical of the English school. It can occur anywhere, just like people in Bolivia and Russia can drink tea with milk, but most don't. To reiterate, is bullying some kind of special cornerstone of English educational practice?

I remember that in second class in primary school there was a girl we took it out on because she kept saying that she had a glass eye. we mocked her. one time i said that if it were true, she would show us. and she did. that stopped everything, we were too shocked for many days after. rest of my school days were just normal fighting and beating the boys up.
