Does somebody else know something more about English version of that movie.
This is very important Polish movie, probably the most important of '80s
They have to be subtitles somewhere !
Without this move English speaking people can't understand Polish mind.

The thing is I don't think subtitles would help. To understand Miś you need either to have lived in an Warsaw Pact country in the 70's or 80's or lived in Poland for at least a year or so (outside the English speaking ghetto).

I've known non-Poles who love Miś but they inevitably have been in Poland a while.

Anyone who's worked in Poland knows the last minute of this scene all too well.

Just watched that clip but only caught a few words and phrases. I think it needs a lektor.

Mis

Mis is a great film and to be honest i was lucky enough to have someone translate the parts they did not say.
It is difficult to get some of the subtitles in another culture, especially with something as serious and funny as Mis.
The were playing it in the cinema in the market square a few months ago with English subtitles. Beside pub bambusum.
I did not have the chance to see it though but it does exist.

osiol, to be honest u can't understand this movie on your stage of 'polishness'. First we have to get a full translation and make subtitles, after that people like you have to understand what they are saying but because of lack of context I am not sure u will get our sense of humour ( of communist reality )

Sean, did u enjoy it even partially?

I'm a German living in Ireland and laughed out loud several times, having seen it in Polish with English subtitles. Uproariously funny, even given the fact that subtitles always lack some of the lustre and that there'll be plenty of insiders I didn't get (am NOT from the former Communist part of Germany but the stories are very familiar and the sausages are the same make!)... I got the film loaned, but see that Amazon sells it with Eng subtitles. ENJOY

The first Polish DVD release didn't have subtitles, but the new one does. Many online sites sell both versions - you want the more expensive one.

You can download subtitles from here if you've got the movies video file ( of course only if you actually bought the original movie wink wink)

I didn,t live through comunist times in Poland , nor do i understand Polish very well , but i saw the film a few years back , and thought it was briliant... I am sure it would be even funnier if i understood more Polish , but its such a well made film , that its entertaining even without an understanding of the language......I would love to have a copy with subtitles.....
