No, not at all. But if I were you, I wouldn't give him something that he could never afford to give you. (Some guys can be insecure like that!)

I think it would be really ambarassing for a PL man/any man...

I guess it would be awkward for anybody to receive an expensive gift from someone not related to them?

I guess it all depends on the financial backgrounds of the persons we're talking about? I mean, my idea of expensive might be totally different from your idea of expensive..

I don't know how well you guys know each other, what kind of a person he is or what you wanted to buy for him.
I would say that most PL men would be amabarassed if a woman gave them an expensive gift, especiall if they couldn't afford to buy her something precious in return.

I agree, this is perhaps the most important part, it may make a guy feel like he's a loser. (It's not because he gets an expensive gift from a woman, but because he can't afford something *that* expensive.) But if he's a wealthy guy, and you're certain he'd be able to return the favour if he wanted to, I don't see why you shouldn't?

It was not expensive, expensive, little less then 100 Euros, but it's though more then you give here in general as a "casual" gift.

Okay, well, I'd consider it pretty normal. (I gave a homeless dude 50 € a few months ago because I didn't have anything smaller on me, and I didn't know him either!) Maybe it's different in Poland, but I don't really see how this would damage the average working guy's wallet too much?

You should do what you want, and give people whatever you want to give them, but it's pretty considerate of you to ask about such things.

Yeah, but here it isn't. The average house here is 300.000 € Okay? So you might think we're all spoiled and rich, but reality is that we may earn more, but also have to spend a lot more..

;)

Suffice it to say, I'm not sorry.

It makes some 400PLN so it's definitely more than casual for PL. As the others said, it depends if that's more than casual for the guy in question. If it is more, then I'm telling you as a PL girl that an average PL guy would feel ambarassed about receiving such a gift.

I'm not overexaggerating, this is what most houses will cost you in my region. (Maybe even more!) And could you please elaborate as to why I should be living in a parallel universe? (There's nothing surreal about anything I've said in my previous postings I'm afraid.)

;)

Just another few houses in my parallel universe!

Enjoy!

Im not sure where you are Arien, but I think the average housing here is around 200.000, the cheapest are from 100.000 but plenty reach the 300.000 as well and even more :-o.

Where would that be? (North Holland over here!) I think I would absolutely love to be able to buy a house for 150.000 €, because I'm not really concerned with all the status and showing off..

:)

I'd rather go on a holiday a little more often!

Oh really? You don't seem that much of a scary person to me! (I've never been there, but I bet it's as cold as its name!)

Actually the weather here has been great lately, upto 10°c :-D. But didn't you hear? We took all the savings from Holland and UK and now every citizen has to pay it for next 30-40 years :-/

I think that giving an expensive gift could hint that you want something in return, or it could hint that when he will be giving you a present he'll have to buy something equally expensive - and if he can't afford it - it might be kind of offensive. I'd refuse taking a present from a girl that I'm not in some sort of relationship in and can't efford giving her a similar one, I'd also do the same if I knew that the girl isn't particularly rich. Even if he looks like he is in need of the object for instance moving to a new house and has lack of certain house wares it could be embarassing to get anything if it was really pricey.. ( if you guys are not long term friends )

Not offensive but could be seen by many as you're trying to "buy" a man or that you don't have much to offer as a person.
You can drive the man away from you in case he is not able to give you back similarly expensive gift (as a custom -that's what should follow after receiving gift).

Of course , there are always others who would be more than happy to receive gift as often as possible but these men usually are womanisers and don't give a s....t about one specific woman.

I had the same interpretation as well.

I think it's better to start off with a smaller, less expensive gift. Something given from the heart, such as a handmade item. After all, dynamite comes in small packages!

A sincere thanks PF, for putting up with me FIVE terrific years, muah!

An expensive gift is never offensive but give at your own risk. Just because you give someone an expensive gift won't make them like you or want to be with you forever.
