Not so long ago , myself and a group of friends with Landrovers were preparing to leave Poland after spending a few day with the children of a state home near Lobez that we had delivered aid to....As we prepared to leave the children sang us a song to say goodbye , very moving it was , even for a heartless old git like me....I have whistled this tune to many Polish friends , and at last i think i have a name for the song....I am told its Maryla rodowich , but that sounds like a persons name , not a song name....anyways , anybody know where i can download the song , as it has special memories for me.....thanks....ps it would be even better if somebody can tell me the meaning of the words in the song....

It's a beautiful song. Wow. I'm impressed that kids are singing that!
I don't know all the words, but here is another version - not sang by Maryla Rodowicz, but the pictures are pretty.
It 's about a time which passed - yet we're are still the same inside.

And here is Maryla herself singing it.

OK, here is another - my favorite

It's about separation of a married couple. There are two worlds..I'm here in Poland - you on the other side of the ocean and all I have is hope...and our children. I don't know if you'll ever comeback to me.

My usual tactic when visiting the kids home was to disapear in the night so the kids didn,t have to see us leaving , but on this occaision the staff had made us a goodbye English breakfast , so we just had to be there....After this a group of girls gathered to sing this song , and of course the younger children realised we were going back to England....first the children began to cry , then the staff , then our group started to cry too...it was a special moment....its nice to hear the song again...

Yeah, all just memories and even more for me. I love all her songs. The words, the music..the 'funky' ways she used to dress for shows..even in commie times. She is a classic! I went to couple of her shows here in Chicago and once in NY. Some people cried when listening to her songs.
I'm not sure if she has anything new nowadays, but I occasionally pop an old CD in and listen... I think, if she was born and sang in todays world, she could be world famous.

The words to most of her songs were written by Agnieszka Osiecka (died a few years ago) and Maryla was the star of the late 60's, 70's and 80's...I don't know much about 90's and now.

She really got famous with this one:

And EVERYBODY knows this song.
