"K*rwa"-why do young Poles find this word so cool ?

This is quite true, but not very good...My roomate had his three children over yesterday: two teenage boys (14-15), and one daughter (about 10)...They were in the basement, watching videos, and almost evry word out of the boys mouth was mother ********* was cursing, too, which was surprising, since he is a basically responsible guy...the young girl kept running outside, where I was playing guitar, just to get away from this...she looked quite unhappy, which was understandable, having to listen to this filth...I am ashamed when white European people act like the worst black scum.

Hm, just a touch more offensive than the f-word here, I couldn't help but feel here. Black Scum? Do you have a white sheet with eyeholes too? But yeah, kids are offensive little blighters. My little brother is much the same. F*ck this, f*ck that... Tsk! the youth of today!!

I dont think we find the word "cool", its a word that just comes out in any occasion, it does sound bad, but we are polish, i mean god you want to take that away from us?

hahahahah, Yes i do agree the polish boys say it A LOT!!! Ummmm its just something that an idividual doing it, should notice that it kind of sounds bad and maybe he or she can work on not saying it as much. The problem is, that so many people do it and so many people are use to it that to them its not a big deal. Me personally, when i hear my friends or family say it too much i kind of tell them to relax. I dont like bad words (only when necessary). Looks bad

One of my colleagues is 70 years old. He said kurwa. Just once though.

I don't use foul language a lot but when I'm pissed off the word 'kurwa' comes in handy... and brings huge relief ;)

Once I went skiing with English-speaking people. I'm not extremely good at skiing and they were rather experienced so I had substantial difficulty keeping up... I tried using the 'f' word every now and then but it was only when I uttered the word 'kurwa' (stressing the 'r' sound) that I managed to feel the difference :D

I should point out its not just those young'uns. My dear boyfriend aint young, but uses it as often as i would use a punctuation mark.

Its nuts, i find it annoying and have been told im not to say it because its un-ladylike. Pppft. Wateva!

hahaha, the word 'Kurva' i use when i want to offend somebody without them knowing, usually i swear in Polish when i'm playing sport so i am not reported :) I don't find it cool or even big, it is just a way of venting my frustrations on the field of play by the quickest possible means.

Not sure, I noticed this too and hate it probably just as much many others. Few weeks ago there was a couple walking ahead of me, and no joke every other word coming out of the guy's mouth was that for about 5 min of me walking behind them.. I guess the guy was the woman's brother and kept biatching about the woman's husband.. couldn't help but to eavesdrop to understand what the deal was with the word being repeated so many times. Nonetheless, when I misplaced my wallet the first day I got here I said it probably as many times myself though, but just to myself not on a public street... very annoying to hear it.

Some Polish people who refuse to say the K word have taken to using the F word as it means nothing to them. It makes me cringe when I walk down the street and hear the F word coming from Polish mouths but those same people refuse to say K. When I hear it now I say K just to make them stare

so Polish kurwa is Serbian kurva. Anywway, kurwa is kurva

youg Serbs also exploit word `kurva`

sometimes, young one like to say `kurava` instead of `kurva`. Its a joke. slang

For Serbs, `kurva` is considered to be prostitute (female) or woman with increased sexual apetites, if you understand me. But also, man can be `kurva` if isn`t worth of respect

Very similar to Polish. Jebać is the stem verb.

Foreigners usually know only one meaning of kurwa, that is, *****. And the most common use of this word isas the "damn" word... I heard about few dangerous situations when a Polish person said "kurwa" and meant "Damn!" and people next to him though he is calling them ******, and started getting rought...

after reading all of the above post's, I just had to put my two-cent's in for what it's worth!.

I think, it's a generational thing, I when dated a Polish Woman who was born in 1972 (we dated five years ago), she never used the word "Kurwa" but, there again, I dated Polish Woman who was born in 1982 (we dated a year ago), she used it all, and I mean all the time!, both were highly Educated, but, it was night and day between them!.

as to the use of the "F" Word, by English speaker's?, That depends on where you are, here in the US, the "F" word is not used, by most people, where in the UK, the "F" word is much more widely used, like on the BBC and in News print!, where here, it cannot be used on Broadcast TV. Bloody, or Bloody Hell in the UK is like the "F" word is here in the US.
