Looking for childrens books in Polish

satti   Mar 2, 07, 10:24 /  #
Hi

I'm learning Polish at the momment, and thought it would be a good idea to translate some basic stories (Things like, 'adam likes to drink orange juice. He is twelve. he goes to school etc) Preferably with pictures.

I have been working through Paweł i Krystyna, but it would be nice to work through something different.

It would be great if somebody could scan a few pages for me, and put them on here or send to my email. It would be very helpful for me!

I tried translating the little prince, but found it very difficult.

Thoughts and comments are appreciated.

Stevo.

Dziękuję.

I think it would also be great, if somebody could possible send me a few pages from some comics. It would help with very short phrases, and exclimations. I know there are issues with copyright infringement, but I can't imagine it being too much of a problem as long as it isn't published everywhere.

Is there anything like this online, such as mini polish comic strips, or jokes?

Thanks again!

Try to find Elementarz, I don't know if they sell it anymore as it's an old book but it's what you're looking for

Waterstones have a entire Polish section now, if you happen to live in Blighty? I bought a couple in the hope of translating them myself. Not as easy as I convinced myself it would be.

Nope, sorry. Any luck in Waterstones? The Manchester one has a fair few Polish childrens books and a whole bunch of adult ones. Not sure if it's the same in Dublin? Can't imagine one branch being different from any other but we do have a large Polish community here.

Does any one know of a story of 2 brothers Paweł i Gaweł I think that's it. My mother told me a long time ago, I think it was a funny or religious children's story. But I am looking to purchase it for her as a gift and I can't find it anywhere. Please help thank you.

Here's one place you can buy it, it costs 3 zł, postage is 20 zł. But there are other places to get it, like Polish books stores, depending where you live

If youre still interested in polish books, I have some. This is collection of simply and not so simply books for my son. He is 5.5 and we learn at home polish as well so if you would like some books we can rent them or just make some photo copies. What exactly you are looking for ? I have "good old" "elementarz" - book used years ago in 1th class of primary school.

Let me know if you still need something :)

Ok well I was having some issues trying to read the directions to order the book and plus it got extremely expensive. But instead I had a different thought. Does anyone have this book? And if so would you mind either typing out what's on each page or better yet scanning it so I can see the picture with what is written? I think I'm just going to illustrate it for my Mother. Sorry for the hassle but actually Angelique you gave me the idea so thank you.

So yes, if some one could be so kind to scan it. I can't read Polish so the words might be tough without a description of what is happening.

Thank you so much,

Cari
