DO ORDINARY POLES DRINK ALCOHOL BEFORE NOON?

It is common in the US (maybe our Brits and Aussies could confirm whether this also applies to other English-speaking countries) that Americans ordinarily do not drink alcohol until noon. Does any such notion exist in Poland?
Other American notions include not going into the water for at least one hour after eating because you’ll get cramps and drown (as far as I know not encountered in Poland). But in Poland parents and grandparents tell kids not to sit on a cement stoop or porch because they'll get rheumatism. This idea is not known in America.
In the sphere of superstitions many notions are the same, but Poles, if they forget something and have to return home, they briefly sit down on a chair. Otherwise it brings bad luck.

The vast majority of people don’t drink before noon (not practical even) in any country I’ve ever been to, although alcoholics will drink alcohol before noon anywhere.

The thing about not sitting on cement is prevalent in Ireland and most countries, as is the thing about not entering water after eating. Most of these aren’t so much superstitions, but practical observations with a hint of exaggeration to reinforce them.

As a Brit living in Poland i was a bit suprised to see how early some people can drink....When i worked as a truck driver in Polska i would start work at 7am , and often called into a local shop before starting to get some food , chocolate cigs etc

Quite often in the que in front of me would be several guys in their work clothes , buying , and drinking beer this is at 6.30 am in the morning...!

The guys were not your typical alchoholic , they were working men , on their way to work....I don,t say this never happens in britain , but i didn,t see it before coming to Poland....

What I do see a lot of in Poland, well at least in the villages there, are people who routinely pop into supermarkets for a beer or two to drink in the middle of the day. Usually construction workers etc, and its not frowned upon in any way. That is very different than Ireland and something I havent seen elsewhere either

There's also the "nie przez próg" (never shake hands over the threshold) notion. Both greeting parties most be on the same side thereof.

hello, I'm a fresher here:) native Polish, little English speaking, so please be lenient:)

Americans ordinarily do not drink alcohol until noon. Does any such notion exist in Poland? - of course we do not;) It's international behaviour that applies only to alcoholics.
Other American notions include not going into the water for at least one hour after eating because you’ll get cramps and drown (as far as I know not encountered in Poland). - unfortunately you are wrong:-)
Poles, if they forget something and have to return home, they briefly sit down on a chair. Otherwise it brings bad luck. - as far as I know, it conserns only those superstitious Poles;-)

On Easter Sunday, eating the blessed food etc the man of the house brought out a bottle of vodka . . as it is so rude not to accept a drink, I of course got pissed and fell home :)

you mean not ordinary Poles, but those unemployed labourers, who were brought up by PRL, then drinking all day long was very common - no matter if it was a morning, noon or evening, at work or at home.

not only in warsow:-) Now, in a city of +/- 200,000 I don't see such people. I used to live in many places, I'm from a little town - about 5,000 - and there they don't drink as well. We shouldn't desctibe all the Poles according to this stereotype.
