What kind of so called antiques exist from poland ? furniture, pottery , ? people?

Artifacts from WWll are popular items, porcelain, clocks. There are many antiques from the XVll, XVlll and XlV century.

My sister recently visited our relatives in Poland. They had antique furniture, including an antique brass bed.

ya know.. I do have a question on this.. my grandmother had ( now I have) a
statue of jesus.. my mom always had this in her room.. it was my dads moms that
my uncle said was at least 75 years or more old.. and she brought it from Poland.

Ive done searches in English on this, but if anyone is willing to look up old statues of
jesus in polish that would be helpful.
I also have her rosary's.. and I cant even find anything on them here.. they are very
old..

I can't seem to find much documantation on this sort of thing either and we all have thes e things from our relatives

i go out of my way to look at antiques and have seen some wonderful stuff here in poland - outstanding furniture, clocks, lamps, ornaments and general niknaks which are what i really like... stuff that serves very little purpose but looks great :-)

the jarmark dominikanski, summer, gdansk is a great place to pick up something interesting

There was a lot of cool stuff we saw there last summer......if I'd of had the money, I would have purchased several things.

I have my Great Grandmother's Rosary, which she brought over from Italy. She had it from the time she was a young girl. It's sterling silver and is approx. 120 years old.

I purchased pictures 100+ years old on Ebay from Ukraine, I did end up paying alot for shipping but it I saw icons that reminded me of my grandfather. I watch one site that sells of alot of item from Ukraine, including homes for as low as $3,000. US dollars.

all over

i lived in madrid for a long while and they have a great custom of leaving unwanted stuff out in the streets every few months for people to rumage thru and help themselves... i picked up loads of great stuff... for free...

i also lived by the rastro there which is full of great stuff every sunday... always a bargain to be had

Wow I love free stuff! Is it still like that ? Once in awhile I pick up stuff in afluent areas but not like you have That is the fun of it all and how you get it.

yeah - the first time i saw it i couldnt believe what was going on... overnight all this really cool stuff just appeared in the streets, loads of it, for the taking!

When we moved into our old flat in Warsaw lots of folk were putting old furniture (not in good condition though) in the dumpster and replacing it with sh#t from Ikea! I got a lot of good stuff free which I restored. I also have a big collection of stuff 'that serves little purpose'. particularily love old Polish enamel plaques and those weird old Polish stovetop espresso machines, only other place I've seen that style is Czech Rep. There was a time when those sort of items were real cheap here but they are getting pricier. The price of old furniture is just outrageous!

My christmas tree is done every year in old glass, hand blown ornaments from Poland, they are beautiful. I also have the round glass oil lamp, I have never used it but love the colors. Do you have alot of used book stores in Poland, I have "The Black Book" and many other great books.

B, have you heard of Krosno? Im trying to find a site that sells it, Ive seen it in Poland but Im after one particular design and type of vase (the one I broke at my mates house :( ) , Krosno have a site but its pretty pants.

i googled krosno glass and google produced loads but i guess you did that already

krosno.com.pl doesnt have a webstore but they might be able to help you...

krosno glass uk ltd also produced some sites to try

I cant even date this.. I dont know how old her rosarys are, because she could have
recieved them from her mother... who knows.. the metals that holds them together
is so old and black and you can tell is all hand made..

LOL, yeah, actually mine is so tarnished, it looks almost black.....one day I will take it in to have it cleaned.

I used to have lots of Polish Christmas Ornaments, but I think decades of kids shattered them all finally. I have grandma's rosary, and lots of antiques I just don't know where they are from. From what I've gathered, they are either Polish, or surrounding countries.

My Father went to an antiques fair in Poland recently, and he bought me a WWII Polish Army dispatch satchel, in brown leather. Very stylish.

some things I would just let stay tarnished.. it might take its value away.

My mother calls and tells me she has the movie crews over at the house looking for antiques they can use in the new Johnny Depp movie with John Dillenger. So she is giving the movie my inheritable things I woudl have liked to have .

I often wonder what happened to all my families belongings from eastern Poland when "Stalin" sent them to "Siberia". Things like pictures of my family and my grandfathers journal to me are priceless. One journal was taken from my aunt in Iran but the others were left at the estate and they covered his capture and front line in WW1.

My grandfather was sent to SIberia as well as other to. I wonder if they crossed paths.

Family were split up Posiolek # 135 in Archangielskaja near Kotlas (Vorcuta) and # 124 Kopytovo.
