Hello,

My name is Ruth. My husband, daughter and I will be traveling to Warsaw in a few weeks to visit. I would like to take gifts, but I am not sure what to take.
We live in the USA.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

I'll start the list.

A bottle of your local brew (spirits)

Something traditional to your area

Checked profile and LoL'd - then thought that would be quite a good idea !

Edit - re-checked. Sorry Ruth, I thought your profile said you were from Lynchburg, USA.
The LoL's on me !

There is a Lynchburg, Virginia, USA though. Makes you wonder about the origin of the name.

not one to burst bubbles but please bear the following in mind:

but check with your airline ... :)

I'd have to agree. Maybe shoot over to VT and grab some Maple Syrup or Maple butter.

You can take Jack Daniels, but they can get that anywhere in PL. I did bring some JD single Barrel which was a hit, but I'm sure you can also find that. I also bring local micro brew beer.

Thank you - that's a great idea!

Are there any food items, perfumes, lotions, etc. that are hard to come by?
How about chocolates?

You can get just about all the same stuff. I'd say to just focus on local things. Don't they sell books for the duck tour or sth? A Boston city picture book etc..

I wouldn't bother with perfume unless you know for sure what your family/friend uses.

You can buy flowers and chocolates when you arrive

Are you buying gifts for older or younger people or both ?

I know that with some younger -15, a calendar from where you live is nice. I was bringing NYC calendars and they loved them. Just an idea.

USA football

basketball maybe? Am "football" isn't that popular here :) unless you meant the real football (soccer)?
Or maybe just an Olympic shirt of the US team (you can buy them online at the USOC site)

Cosmetics are plenty available, but quite expensive in Poland. I had a couple of cheesy purse mirrors with me, variety of lip gloss, lipstick holders w/mirror - the teen girls and young women loved it. (it's easy on the space in a suitcase too)

I once made tacos in Poland. Wow, everyone loved them! So next time I got them taco seasoning.
It depends who these gifts are for.

Suggestions on gifts for family in Poland

Hello,

I am going to meet my Polish relatives for the first time in August. Could someone suggest some gifts I could bring (from America to Poland) ?

Thank you
Kiwi   Jul 25, 09, 19:36 /  #
First of all - how old are your relatives? I guess it's obvious that some gifts are good for peers but shouldn't be given to elderly etc.
Of course, gender is important as well.

Sorry for my english ;)
