The coach of Poland's national team Leo Beenhakker got fired after Poland's 3:0 loss to Slovenia. Lato did the right thing Beenhakker cared more about helping Feyenoord Rotterdam than the job he was paid to do. The national team under him won like 1 away game. He had a contract he still gets paid for the games he didn't coach. Lato treated him just like he treated the team.

Erm, Poland qualified for the Euro for the first time in its history, they beat Portugal at home and drawed there. All is not 'dark'! Leo was not that bad. We'll see if it's better now.

If you mean WC 2006 then it was Paweł Janas, Beenhakker was coaching Trinidad and Tobago (if I'm not mistaken) during that WC and was appointed as Poland's coach after Janas was fired (because we won only 1 game in WC 2006 and didn't qualify for the 1/8 finals).

Looks like Avram Grant could be in the frame for the Polish job! If I supported Poland, I would have mixed feelings about that appointment.

This was orchestrated by the geriatric members of the Polish FA who didn't like the way that he objected to their point of view.
Rather pathetic really as some old has-been Polish footballer thinks he knows better than a man who has devoted most of his life to football rather than some old crony who only cares about how much zloty is under his dupa.
