I saw Radwanska play last october here in Austria. She made the last sixteen but lost to Ivanovic iirc. Not a bad tennis player. Certainly no Masha mind!

She has a Polish parents, speak Polish so she is from "Polish Diaspora", She is a citizenship fo Poland as well as Danish one. She plays for Denmark but she's a "native Polish girl", so what is wrong to write such a topic?

Caroline is not danish according to danish "sanguinis origen" Act of Danish Citzenship:

1.-

(1) Danish Citizenship is acquired by virtue of the birth of

1. a legitimate child whose father or mother is Danish,

2. an illegitimate child, whose mother is Danish.

I am not a danish myself....and by the way...WHO CARES! I just feel sorry that even being born and living in Sweden , I could not yet acquit for my own son a swedish citizenship, unless his father (who is dane) allows me. Which I am still working on it... Sådan...

Try to make her a danish is almost the same for many (foreigners like myself) as aknowledge Einstain as a german scientist and not jew. Sorry!

Come on..!!! I'm part North-Germanic (primarily Danish) and part Polish, living and brought up in Denmark, but still I'm no Dane.
To hell with who got what passport, the Muslims in their little Baghdad-ghetto have some as well.

She's playing for Denmark, but she is Polish. That's the thing about sports..
The large football-clubs and other have players from all over the world, but there's nothing Danish about those - neither for those non-Danish on for example the CSC-team in Tour de France (representing Denmark).

A piece of paper doesn't make who you are (like a passport) - you are the result of your individual, genetical combination.

If somebody's further interested in Caroline, but having trouble with Danish sites, I'm willing to translate.

Hello,

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that Caroline's Polish surname is pronounced Wozniakki. The tennis commentator on Germany's Eurosport channel insists on calling Caroline "Whozniatski". Could this be correct? It sounds strange to me. Where does he get the "tsk" sound from?

Let's hope she wins the Madrid WTA final against Dinara. Not that I've got anything against Marat's sister, who's a gifted and powerful player.

Caroline Wozniacki is one of many very good international tennis players of polish heritage that are distinguishing themselves in recent years on the international stage. They are finally able to shine , need I say more?

No Dane has a name like that.

Wikipedia says this moron! "Wozniacki is the daughter of Polish parents, father Piotr and mother Anna.[2] Piotr Wozniacki acts as her coach".[3]

So now your fighting over a tennis player who is never going to be number 1 in the world :) goodness me is there anything the Poles won't claim for???

As for Wozniacki, i was watching the match last night (well part of it) against Oudin, the female commentator said that she was born of two Polish parents but in Denmark. To me atleast that means she is Polish, it just so happens that she was born in another country.

It depends if she wanted to/her parents wanted her to take Danish citizenship/nationality, although to be honest does it really matter where she is from, she's a good player with the potential (maybe) to achieve a lot in the game.

Don't be so sure :)
She's no. 6 after her US Open final and she's pretty damn consistent with her results (especially for her young age), I don't like her tennis (for now, but she has time to improve), but with another good Grand Slam appearances she may as well climb high in the rankings (she was never in a quarterfinal of a Grand Slam before, so she can gain lots of points next year).

If you are in the top ten in the world, believe me you are doing something right! I saw the final and I would say that Caroline did not " choke" like some of the other well known players are in the habit of these days. She must develop a stronger volley, second serve and groundstrokes. But, she does have a solid foundation on which to build and an excellent attitude on court and off that will allow her to improve and stay at or near the top. By the way, when she did miss a shot on occasion and uttered a word in disgust it was " nie". We all know that it's polish for "no". I think that says a lot about what she considers herself to be.

Nothing to do with Caroline.
It's just that Polish player Łukasz Kubot (ATP, 143) just beat Andy Roddick (ATP, 6) in the first round in Beijing.
He will be playing the Croat Ljubicic to qualify for the next round.

Kubot vs Roddick: 6-2/6-4
Time: 1h21

Well done Łukasz ;)

During the presentation she insisted on, speaking polish after saying a few words in English and Danish. I very nice thought and says a great deal about her self identity.
