Well, just look at the video a few posts above (14th October), she was speaking in Polish in New York, after her US Open final, so I guess ANY American tennis commentator should know it by now, if they didn't know earlier.
There was also an article in the tennis pages of the New York Times about all those girls with Polish origin (Radwanskas, Wozniacki, Wozniak, Lisicki, also mentioned the young Australian Olivia Rogowska):

So it seems this TV person was rather clueless (also Caroline and her father ALWAYS speak Polish on court if she asks for coaching, so it's strange the commentator noticed it only now, maybe this person usually covers only men's matches?)
