Grzegorz Szamotulski is he a good goalkeeper?

Does anyone have any thoughts on his goalkeeping skills? I know he played in Poland until 2004 and since then has played in Austria, UK and Israel and now he has signed for my team in the UK. Some problems with his papers meant he couldn't play this weekend.

Have we made a good signing, or a bad one? :)

He used to be quite good a few years ago, not sure about his current shape... Hadn't he already played in Scotland ?

He made 18 appearances for Dundee United I think to cover for Lukasz Zaluska (who was injured at the time). I didn't really see him though.

My overall feeling is "good signing". Rangers were apparently interested in him, but he came to us. (If he'd gone to Rangers he'd always be compared to Boruc though).

I think he is a decent keeper but it doesnt matter. Playing for Hiobs its only a matter of time before the inevitable cock up. Hopefully in a derby match!! :D

Yes. Which is why I am asking about Szamotulski.

Haha, less than two months with Hibs and Szamotulski has turned to booze and trying to escape the country. ;)

HIBS goalie Grzegorz Szamotulski was reportedly banned from getting on a plane because airport staff said he was too drunk.
Check-in staff at Edinburgh Airport would not allow him on the 5.50am flight to Amsterdam because they feared he could have been a danger to other passengers. He was said to be wobbling on his feet and slurring his speech.

He'd still probably be better than John Burridge was in that condition.

Just nowhere as good as Jim Leighton was.

I wouldn't worry too much, he's decent enough, just probably hadn't sobered up enough from the night before. ;)

What makes you think he wasn't drinking from when he woke up that morning? :P

Good old baldy Leighton...we used to give him so much stick when in the Merkland Stand back in the day.

Speaking of the Merkland 'Family' Stand - they never did anything about our abuse of various players, including calling one particular Dunfermline player 'bald c**t' for the entire 90 minutes. I can't remeber for the life of me who it was, though.

I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because the article says he'd had a heavy night out. ;P

Jim Leighton was great.

I don't know who your baldy Dunfermline player was... :|

He's clearly just learning that it's best to get drunk in Scotland rather than in Poznań like a certain Celtic goalkeeper. I'm getting sick of trying to read the news, only to discover that the free rag is full of BORUC FALLS OUT OF CLUB DRUNK headlines. :(

Me neither...I can't even remeber why we were giving him so much abuse, apart from the fact that he was bald and played for Dunfermline :D

Be easy on him, the whole team had been out. :) He was the one who had to fly at 5.50am though, not good fun. ;)

Boruc is often drunk and falling out of clubs though. ;)

They're good reasons. ;)
