Hi!

Does anyone know of a bar in Katowice that shows live English football? I'm going to be spending a little time there (and there ar some big matches on). Any advice greatly appreciated!

Google 'The Spencer pub'. I seem to recall my American friend from Katowice mentioning sth about it having 'soccer'.

Jonni, best place for english football is The Irish Mbassy on Ul. Wawelska.....very near the train station, if you need more precise directions let me know, you'll find me in there often enough for the Scottish games

Good advice, it got a better write-up on a forum that I read. Is it that bar with the long-haired Irishman as the owner?

No I dont think so Seanus, well, maybe he had long hair in the past before I came here, but I don't reckon so. Owned by an irish lad and some english investors, managed by an aussie guy, plenty of english, irish n scots in there depending on the night, what games are on etc. also the pub grub is pretty good, decent value as well, chicken burger, chips n salad for 16 zl

For 16PLN, quite steep. As a Scotsman, I'd expect a beer thrown in for that price :)

I thought decent, given that I fully expect irish bar prices to be quite high. If comparing to a local place, absolutely, its extortionate ;0)

Well, Irish grub is pretty good. I paid top dollar for it in Hiroshima. It was from a chef from Cork who trained as a chef in NYC, top man.
