ONLY POLAND HOSTING EURO 2012?

Grumbling from UEFA, unhappy with lagging Ukrainian preparations, could
suggest that Poland may have to go it alone in 2012. Would the country be up to it? Any comments?
BTW Poland won her last friendly of the year on Sunday, beating Serbia 0-1 at a Turkish venue.

No... Poland would never be able to host the tournament by themselves, not efficiently, anyway, unless an additional few hundred million Euro's were thrown into the infrastructure.
I've heard that if Ukraine is not ready, then some of the matches will be given to Germany. That would be quite embarassing though, and I don't think its a likely scenario. Poland, and Ukraine will be ready.

Yes we have started to build 6 stadious on euro instead of 4 ... it was very good decision but I hope that Ukrainians will be able to finish their part and we will use only 4 of our new stadiums.

Polonius3:

ONLY POLAND HOSTING EURO 2012?

Not a good idea, EURO2012 is a good opportunity for UA to get closer to the "west" and that's also a good thing for us, so If they won't be able to make It to fifty/fifty then 3/4 for PL, 1/4 for UA... but If Uks for some reason will have to leave this project then we will have to go alon, definately not with Gerries...

Polonius3:

If the decisions is made in the next few months then we will make It, some stadiums will be a bit smaller than they should be, some roads won't be perfect but in such a difficult situation I doubt that anybody will expect more.

Because the topic has already been opened

Yesterday:

''Btw, did you know that Platini, president of the UEFA, said that Poland is capable of organising the Euro 2012 alone, and would, if Ukraine can't get out of the 'crisis'?
Not a good news for them, but wow.''

Anyway UEFA was surprised by this article in "Dziennik" (owned by Axel Springer, editors of German Bild or some similar "szmatławiec"), they denied everything, so it looks like some pseudo-journalist was just to eager to wirte a new sensational article.

article in "Dziennik" (owned by Axel Springer

It haven't made anny profit Axel has only loses on this newspaper ... annyway it is modern world some companies are Polish some are not...

http://www.twoja-firma.pl/wiadomosc/16045973,koncern-axel-springer-pon osi-straty-przez-dziennik.html

"Już od ponad roku Polacy mog± czytać codziennie "Dziennik". Jak się okazuje, gazeta jest jednak w dalszym ci±gu nierentowna. W ubiegłym roku przyniosła wydawnictwu ponad 100 mln zł straty. Axel Springer podaje jednak, że za kilka lat sytuacja ta powinna się zmienić."

As I know in 2008 they have more and more trouble... This paper has no future so maybe that is why they try to be more and more controversial

But they already publish "Fakt" which is covering this sector, and "Dziennik" was supposed to be serious :)

It is better than Fakt but sometimes ...it is on lower level than competitors rzeczpospolita or wyborcza.

Dziennik had some similar problems with being serious in the past.

So it is offical.

At least 6 not 4 Polish cities are going to host EURO 2012. Ukraine has to prepare only 2 cities.

If they fail Poland will do it alone or two German cities will host games instead of Ukrainians.

I have heard that Germans are getting ready to host it regardless.

Michel Platini: Poland is able to organize Euro 2012 by itself. 28/01/2009

It was the first time for the head of UEFA – Michel Platini to admit that Poland can organize Euro 2012 itself – Kiev should this city be late with building the stadium than such an option is plausible – quotes „Dziennik”

It is good that Poland has started to prepare more than 4 cities.

We will see. Poland promised to prepare 4 cities ... 6 will be prepared. If Ukrainians prepere only 2 cities it will be enought ... if not we will do euro in 6 cities (it is possible as well) or with (2 cities) Germans

If not with Ukraine I think Poland should do it alone, Germany had the fun already and nothing could beat the experience of 2006....

I share your point of view but we are not deciders in this case.

I think the two replacement stadia should be in England. We have enough Polish people to fill them to provide the necessary authenticity;) I'll tell Anfield to stock up on Lech premium.

My wife was pestering her Wojt about the state of the local roads outside of Olsztyn. He'd been told there was no money left in the civic pot to repair the roads (imagine the moon's surface with a few trees either side) because all the money had been diverted to building roads for Euro 2012.

Has anybody noticed the state of the roads over the past few weeks theyve gone to shit. I was driving on a road the other day that i use all the time, all of a sudden there were pot holes all over the place. Atleast 80% worse than it was the last time i drove it which was around 3 weeks ago. It must have something to do with the severe temperatures of late. Also the roads could not have been laid properly in the first place, just another case of bad business and corners being cut to increase profit.

Its so dangerous swerving to miss the holes and my poor old car hammering through pot holes every other minute. Makes me furious.
