Advice needed, Trip through the border to Lwow, Ukraine

I'm going for a trip to Lwow in a couple of weeks, and need some answers to some questions:) Has anyone ever been, what was your experience of the city? Is it costly, i mean how much would i need to take for a nightout, or tours?(though i prefer to look around myself). Has anyone got any contacts in the City i could use? Going through the border, is it a long and boring experience? Any other info that i need to know of? Thanks in advance:)

I always use tripadvisor.com its a very good site (its spelt lviv on there though)

A great time to arrive is on the weekend because vehicle traffic is totally shut down in the central city, and everyone is out enjoying the weekend. I love Saturday afternoon in L'viv. There were countless wedding parties and many, many people out walking, men playing chess, it was amazing.

Went six months ago by car. Lovely city, beautiful architecture, good and cheap opera house. Stayed 2 nights at Leopolis, very nice but quite expensive. Long wait at the border (3, 5 hours each way!). Overall prices are a bit cheaper than Poland (good exchanges rates at Kantors in the city)

I've been looking at going for some time and did a bit of research, as suggested it is cheaper (considerably so) than Poland and very pretty.

southern: es.Especially if you use the wrong means of transportation. I went over the border on a Harley motorcycle , they were obviously bike fans , i got ushered to the front of the que , got my stuff stamped , and away i went....very quick and painless.....The bloody roads are terrible tho...
