Hi,

I ill be visiting Poland, Gdansk, Olsztyn and Warsaw, this May. I am a 40 y/o man. Can anyone give me some advise on appropriate dress for a man my age? I wish to not stand out in the crowd but still dress nice enough to get into clubs and restautants. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

No idea how you normally dress, but people in Poland don't dress any differently to anywhere else in the world that I've visited.

My dress-sense could be described as a but OTT some time, so I do tone things down just a wee bit when I'm in Poland. But other than that, you'll find people dressed in H&M, Benetton, Boss etc. rather than floral embroidered dresses (on the men LOL!!!).

If you want to blend in:

Black leather jerkin
'De Gaulle' cap (preferably leather)
Trousers that are a little to short
White socks
Stubble

Bring a pair of leather slippers to wear indoors

hi hussiar, i would recommend losing the checkered head rag & the white robe.
get some well fitted boot cut jeans, button up shirts & dress shoes. maybe a casual jacket cause it might be chilly in may.

I see your sense of humor, haha :) The truth is that people do not dress the same in any two countries or even to a certain extent in any two regions of the same country. There is certainly a Euro sense of fashion which differs from the U.S. sense and etc. I don't see shorts and a ball cap being the norm in a church in Olsztyn while that is not uncommon in Seattle. I have looked at a site called Polish Street Fashion and yes I do see similiarities to dress in the U.S. but at the same time there are major differences. Besides that site focused on young people and adults dress differently everywhere.

True... but in Shanghai, Dubai, Montreal, Paris... everyone tends to wear jeansd and a t-shirt.
