It's about 50km from Olsztyn to Lidzbark Warminski and then about 6km from Lidzbark Warminski to Bobrownik. I remember this village because there is great view from the hills to Lidzbark Warminski.

I can find the location but not anything else. Can you describe it or tell me anything about it at all. Anything at all would be appreciated. Is it a farm town? This is where my family is from. Is there a bus that goes there from Lidzbark?

Peter, is there anything else you can share with me about this town? Is there a bus that goes there from Olsztyn? Is it a farm town or a suburb? Is it a poor town or a well off town? Is the town pretty or drab? Anything would be appreciated.

Hmm. What can I add. As you can see from satelite or hybrid view, there are only few houses in the village. It is rather a farm town (whatever it means ;) and the neighbourhood is quite drab (raw, abandoned military area)

You can take a coach (PKS operator) or minibus (e.g. TRANSWAL) in Olsztyn, both near the bus station and near hotel KORMORAN then you have hire a cab in Lidzbark Warminski. You have buses to Lidzbark Warminski each hour as this route is very busy. Expect they may be very crowded. Look around for boards behind the windscreen. You need "Lidzbark Warm" or "Bartoszyce", bus stop nr 1. Beware of "Lidzbark" because it is in opposite direction, to the South. Get off from the bus on Lidzbark Warminski rail/bus station. There is a taxi stop. One way bus ticket Olsztyn -> Lidzbark cost about 10zl. You can buy ticket in the bus. Cab from Lidzbark Warminski to Bobrownik should cost about 20zl.

what!!! i remember i used to pay 4 or 5 one way. that was about 4 years ago but still, i see the prices have doubled if that's what it costs now. i'm not sure if there is a bus to Bobrownik, but there probably must be one cos there should be kids there and maybe they go to one of the schools in Lidzbark. i just checked there is a bus, if you find the bus station in Lidzbark Warm. just ask from which stand does the bus to Łaniewo or Lubomino leave from. you can buy the ticket at the station or from the driver. if the bus times don't suit you it's of course easier to get a taxi, it's only abot 10 or 15 mins from there. if i'm not wrong and if it hasn't been moved, the taxi stand is right next to the bus station, on the right side.

You say it is a raw, abandoned military area. Was this a military base recently? Would this be a dangerous place for a foreigner to visit? Are there farms or was this a military training ground?

Thank You very much for the information on the bus. A great help.

My family left this village 100 years ago. I found the village name on a Streamship log for my great grandmother and my grandfather.
I find it interesting that a women from such a small village was literate 100 years ago. The steamship records also listed this fact.

Not sure what I will see there and would not expect to find any relatives. But I wil be in Gdansk so worth a look.
