Go and watch the local soccer team, Piast Gliwice. You are not that far from the Zabrze stadium I think. Better with Piast, they are in the first league.

You mentioned going to Queens.. I don't think spamming with threads will get you anywhere, you already created one thread about being bored : p

The internet is your friend. How about watching American rock bands with good Polish beer? If you want, go to the rynek in Gliwice and there are international beers. Tesco too. You can while away your time nicely doing that.

How about some Crazy Town? youtube.com/watch?v=7WlstnPwZ9g&feature=related, Drowning

Get off ya computer and meet people...FFS..Is it just me or does anyone else find it strange someone would log on to a forum when they are on holiday in a wonderful country? As sheep said, go for a beer, people watch, engage people in conversation!!!!!!!!!!! In the 'real' world!

Any places in and around the rynek and you will strike up some conversation. Gramofon, Kontrabas, Gwarek, Hemingway and the Warka bar are all on or around the rynek. Very rowdy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Can you speak Polish? Are you a pure American or....?

There are people who can easily start talking to somebody, and there are those who can't. I don't think I'd be able to just chat some random stranger up in a foreign country.

You just need the right cues and for people to give off the right body language. I'm not that good at it either, largely because I don't want to be. I have no interest in chatting up women given that I am married. Guys, well, I have plenty chatting time in class and dislike drunken morons.

Mikey, what do you like doing?

Im quite comfortable talking to anyone and happy to go in a bar on my own - Recently on holiday (with a right boring cow) I went out on my own and met people most nights because I wasnt going to bed at 11pm! I suppose it depends on if you want to stay in or want to meet new people....

I don't think it'd be wise chatting up blokes in Gwarek hehehe ;)

They should be so lucky!! ;0)

Thanks Shelley :)

I remember having to hightail it out of Gwarek as 4 'karki' saw me dancing with one of their girls. The little bi*ch didn't tell me she was taken and then she whispered in my ear that her husband was watching her. Oops! I guess it was just a set-up as they didn't come running after me. One started to move towards me so I just left, pronto!

You never know who knows who in such clubs and you can't count on bouncer protection. If it was Gramofon and 3 guys started sth with me, I'd feel fine as I know the 2 bouncers there. One is 125kgs and can press A LOT of weight. He's the kind of guy that can throw you away with one arm. The other is a BJJ champion and could break your arm in seconds. I wonder where my other student works now. I was a bouncer with him too for one night, good fun!

You don't know Gwarek, it's the place where all the pumped up polish chavs come after dropping a tab or sniffing coke and dance to techno music along with 14yo jailbaits.. scary place.

anyways, I envy you extravertic people ; p

Exactly. Poland is not as rife with drugs as Britain is. Granted, they are here but you need to dig that bit deeper. Not that I know the scene inside out but most Poles stick with alcohol.

Go to Lublin: it's the most overlooked city in Poland. While you are there you can go down to Zamosc for a couple of days.
