Hey - I haven't hit a single club since I've been here, partly because I was a party promoter in New York who went out 3-4 times a week so I'd had enough. Another reason is that in New York I got everything for free, I went to some of the most exclusive clubs and got in for free regularly without having to stand in line, I would always know someone who had a table so all alcohol was free (I'm bragging I know - sue me!) so I've been wary of going out here, where I'm a nobody who'll be told to stand in line like everyone else and pay for entry and then pay again for drinks.

But my girlfriend has been wanting to go out, and before we try it I wanted to get some second hand reports on nightlife in Warsaw, places to avoid, places "to be seen" what to expect as far as treatment, price? Are ther4e such things as party promoters/hosts here in Poland? I don't want to go through any guide because I wouldn't know where to start, I probably will pick one up anyway, but I'd prefer some feedback from y'all thanks!

The ones I visited were full of pretentious Poles who thought they were a cut-above becasue they had escaped their little village and made it to the capital. The fact that it's a sh!thole hadn't dawned on them

Clubbing is not taken that seriously anywhere east of Berlin. That includes Poland and all the way to Vladivostock. If u r/were a seriously well connected hip clubber in NYC, you might as well live off those exciting memories and forget about clubbing in Warsaw.

Ive had some fantastic 'clubbing' experiences in Poland where it's much more likely to hear the sort of music I want to hear rather than the commercial plumf that gets churned out in most clubs nowdays.

Clubbing in Sopot has been free for ages which means you can wander as the mood takes you. Thats changed and te key clubs have now started charging.

Del Boy - why the fuk anyone would want to go to Newcastle for any reason is beyond me ;)

For the same reasons why some people try 'survival', I suppose.

Sure, there are tacky nightclubs which will attract the clones wearing H+M's finest... but I'd have thought there would be more of an edgy / underground scene somewhere. What about in Praga?

Aha - so you went to Barbados before it closed......I loved the place. It was better than any Comedy Club

I suppose they share the same inability to understand what the locals are saying.

The first question that I always ask is... "was I being obnoxious or making a twat of myself last night?" LOL!

I'm sure the answer is invariably no.

I don't have to ask that question of course.....Consistent me.

Yeah thanks for that insight I figured it wasn't such a big deal here in Europe, and rightly so, no matter what venue, nightclubs are still trashy hang-outs, but I must admit some places in NYC were pretty good at making you feel all VIP etc, ego-trips like that are fun once in a while.

why don't you just go and have fun.

Isn't that what discovering a new culture is all about.?

The best place for fun is SPATIF in Sopot and nothing will beat it;) LOL.

Take ur girlfriend and hop on a plane to London or Paris for a weekend, stay at a 5 star hotel (St Martin Lane or Hotel Costes to name a few), get the concierge to sort u out with all the guest lists and get a good VIP night out.

The only place in eastern europe that is likely to provide u with a VIP thrill is Moscow but it definitely is not for the faint hearted.

Try out the area around bars called Paparazzi, Cinamon and Platinium. There are a few bars/clubs up there that might suit you.

First of all you can't compare Warsaw to NYC - so forget everything you know and start from scratch. If you want to go the the places where people "want to be seen" you will not find them. They are too exlusive for you - unless you know someone who knows. The street level clubs are also sometimes hard to find. They vary from tiny holes to large 2,000 capacity warehouses. Some are located in the "wild west" the area flattened by the nazis and is only now being rebuilt. Generally - they feel more innocent/fresher than western decadent (up their own a*s) clubs with an inspired mixture of good music and a light friendly atmosphere. Warsaw is not a great place to go with your girlfriend because your eyes will be temped by gorgeous women. They are all natural provocative dancers. If you are that way inclined - don't get invloved with a Polish guy when trouble flares - you will not win. There is a strong code of honour and they are all John Wayne in a saloon punch-up (if provoked)

Your last points are interesting Ogorki. For one though ,my Polish girlfriend is damn gorgeous so I've never felt any temptation. and I'd say that all girls (and boys) are naturally provocative dancers, that's been my experience in NYC.

However, I've been wary of clubs and bars for the exact reason that If one guy were to say something to me, I would have no support, I'd either have to shut up, or fight and then get beat up by all his boys - and then feed the "violent-black-man" stereotype.
