The platform serves both 2 and 3, your train will leave from the 2 side.

I am going to visit my friend.

I have never been to rzechow.

I have been to krakow twice. And that is, of course, for now my fav city.
( i have been to poznan and gdanks also)

So can you give me the lowdown on rzechow?

things to do??

though my friend as i said is from there so no worries hehe

are you polish? i dont think so......................shouldnt it be> ja mowię<<<po polsku

The platform can be changed! You must always check on the board in the railway station before departure.

Ok, so Rzeszow might not be as great as Krakow, well actually it isnt anywhere near Krakow. I mainly stay outside the city in the countryside but in the city there are some cool student bars and clubs. As with Krakow i wouldnt spend too much time on the square but try getting to places just outside it. Also a visit to the "*****" statue is always great for a laugh. I just prefer the "Polishness" of Rzeszow to Krakow.

Let me recommend a very cozy city in South-Eastern Poland - Zamość.

The historical city centre is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The platform can be changed! You must always check on the board in the railway station before departure.

Not only that, but sometimes the platform is changed at the last minute without being changed on the departureboard. And if it's a domestic train, then the announcement will only be in Polish.

1. Look for signs that the train does indeed go to Rzeszów on the train itself.

2. Ask a few different passengers. A quick 'do Rzeszowa?' or even 'Rzeszów?' (in pseudo French spelling JAI-chouf) is enough (they'll nod and/or say 'tak' if it is. Don't ask kids or teenagers who might think it's funny to misdirect you. Don't ask conductors as they're not always 100% reliable. Do ask other passengers, preferably older and more stable looking.

The train station in Rzeszow is something else though. When we went to buy ticket we waited for an hour behind ONE guy who wanted to check the prices of every train and possibilities. When we got to the woman, she put up a sign to say she was going for a break! bit(h! You could hear a lot of kurwa's that day :D

Hmm I'm not 100% sure but It could be peron 2, tor 3 -> each platform (except the first and last one...) has tracks on both sides... so there are tracks 2 and 3 next to platform 2... Anyway you should find It out easily If you come up 10 minhutes earlier, the next train should be displayed on the thingy next to each track... and there are signs on the sides of each train too...

plg:
The what statue?

There's a statue, which looks like a huge pu*sy...

Even a brain dead person can find the right train. Just look on the signs.

But make sure you look on odjazdy (departures) and not przyjazdy (arrivals).

No matter how many times you explain this, if the person isn't familiar with Polish railways, it'll still sound completely nonsense. It took me about 6 months to get to realise the idea of island platform sides being 'tracks' and not 'platforms'. :(

aye she was a wee polish gem;)
Im not fluent but I speak it well enough to have convo's with folk. I never went and studied it at school but just picked it up as i went along. Ive known some people to master it in less than a year, others longer. Depends how much practice you get.

Platform/Track numberings can be absolutely insane - don't ask questions in this respect, just find platform 4 and you'll be fine ;)

Just read the signs correctly. Don't worry, I have never heard about anyone who didn't find their train in a Polish railway station.

plg:

It's just speaking, speaking, speaking... listening, listening, listening.

And of course read some grammar, and normal Polish texts. Of course you need someone in real life who can give you feedback.

plg:
byłaś polką?

był polką? = you were a Pole? (before you died?)
(czy) ona była polką? = Was she Polish?
(Sounds a little like the person is dead now)

Czy ona jest Polką? = Is she Polish?

Don't be. Those are things I always do in countries where you don't have to show tickets before getting on and I don't speak the language (or don't speak it well).

Arrive early, go to the platform listed on the departure board, but realize there's a small chance it will be somewhere else and be ready to change platforms in a hurry.
