Question about Wizz air flights to Katowice/Kraków...

In my opinion Wizzair are deliberately mis-describing Katowice airport as ' Krakow- Katowice' and sometimes ' Katowice - Krakow.' We had a one-way Wizzair e-ticket from (supposedly) Krakow - Katowice (as Wizzair call it) to Liverpool, and went to Krakow airport , which is in a village called Balice, only to find Wizzair don't fly from there at all.
To catch our flight, we then had to take a taxi to Katowice Pyrzowice airport (that's the right name), which cost us 400 zl. ( around £90). I have written to Wizzair about this but received no reply. In the UK we have something called the Trades Descriptions Act which is supposed to prevent mis-description.
Wizzair should not use the word Krakow in conncection wiht Katowice airport, as they are 2 totally different airports about 80 km. apart. It should be made plain to everyone purchasing a ticket with Wizzair that they do NOT fly from Krakow, they fly from Katowice Pyrzowice airport.

Hello, I'm off to Poland on Sunday and my lovely girlfriends lovely parents have agreed to pick me up from the airport, my question to you fine pf residents is this: On the wizzair site it lists the airport as Katowice/Kraków, does this mean that it will land at Katowice and fly on to Kraków or that it will land only at Kraków or only at Katowice? It's not too obvious and my tickets say Katowice/Kraków... Has anyone flew this route? :> Help! Lefty & J_B ;)

Katowice mate and then you have to make your own way to Krakow.

I have flown with Wizz air the chances are you will be flying to Katowice and then joining a bus which will take you to Krakow (a 1 hours journey). Why not get your inlaws to pick you up at Katowice is is only 30 mins on the motorway, however, make sure when you check in. I have never heard of a ticket which states krakow/katowice, it is either one or the other.

They use Krakow as the selling point, Kato near krak.

jump_bunny: 100km distance!! to them its near :-) Lots of the budget airlines do it Oslo/Torp, Frankfurt/hahn.

Wroclaw Boy: If their coming in on the A4 make sure they leave around 40 mins from there to Katowice airport, its miles out of town. I know where Katowice airport is, I have flew from there a few times. The problem is I never flew with Wizz Air and the tickets say Lefty will land in Katowice/Cracow, not in Katowice.

As others said. I took a Luton - Katowice/Krakow flight and there was a coach to Krakow..

Krakow has its own airport(s). I know Balice. The nearest city is Katowice. Most airports are at least a few kilometres out of the city. It is misleading to lump in Krakow there but it'll get more sales as it's showing the relative proximity of the two cities. It's not that far from Pyrzowice to Kraków, in relative terms.

Lefty: Cut and paste from ticket... You are definately going to Katowice, without a shadow of a doubt, and then shipped to Krakow by bus unless, you have made alternative arrangements.

Wizzair never flies to Krakow, always to Katowice. They probably write Krakow because more people know that city.

It's as bad as Frankfurt-Hahn Airport - which is 120km from Frankfurt! :) And they're tying to add "London-" to an airport near Oxford now - which is probably about 70km - lol! Maybe it's just me (I do travel a LOT though) but I always know exactly how to get to/from every airport I fly to, and I've never even been caught out with bus routes - so "caveat emptor" I think! Either that, or I'm being exceptionally smug in the face of the less fortunate ;) haha
