Taking a car to Poland for Vacation help

I want to take my car to Poland for 2months vacation.

Any help appreciated ie I would need a plate for the front (not needed in my state)

I have had the car for a month and is registered under my wifes name is there going to be a problem if I want to pick it up in Poland once it arrives?

I know I also have to have a international drivers license I can get from AAA here.

You'll need proof of insurance too, and won't you need to pay import duty when you pick it up?

Hi I am not importing any cars I only want to take the Polish driving test and have a Polish licence, is it possible?

Would it not be cheaper just to hire a car for a few months?

Why do you want to bring an American car to Europe for your holiday? Its not as though American cars are better than their European counterparts now is it?

Also you could probably get car rental for around £600 per month which will include insurance etc,

Just out of interest how much are you paying for shipping?

Ah fair enough, worth bringing then but do you realise that roads here in Poland are terrible My 7 series BMW often hits the floor in some places as is the quality of driving and it would be sad to hear that such a nice car got ruined on Polish roads or by the sheer incompetence of other drivers. Have you got access to a lockable compound to keep it in once in Poland as cars do get stolen here and often vandalised by the local feral low lifes who are jealous of other peoples apparent success?

I agree with dnz.. sounds like a total waste of time and money to me, just for the chance to show off your fancy set of wheels in Poland, which will just draw attention to you as a tourist with more money than sense. Anyway, have a nice trip :)

I'm with these two. Paying $2,400 for shipping, plus import duty, and dealing with all the paperwork and hassle just to have your car here for a two-month holiday is plain old stupid.

It would be far cheaper to just buy a Lotus in Germany and then sell it again two months later.

Personally, looking at the prices of elises in the states where they are an expensive car I would fly to the UK buy one like this
