Tips for first trip to Krakow

Hi, I will be visiting Krakow for my first time this October along with a friend who is also learning Polish. I have searched through this site and gotten lots of great information on what to do and see whilst there. Just wondering if anyone who either lives there or visited has any tips on best places they found to eat/ drink/ visit off the beaten track so to speak. I visited Prague last year and found the best places to be on the outskirts rather than in the centre like little hidden gems that tell the true city story and was hoping to find some places like that in Krakow ( that will accept my poor polish ;) Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated Mike

Hello Mike, You will have a great time in Krakow, I am sure. You can find Recommendations for Krakow (click here) You also might want to check out Zakopane, about 100km south of Krakow, buses and trains go daily. mike1980: that will accept my poor polish Krakow isn't the best place to practice your Polish I think unless you avoid the tourist trail and only talk to older people. In tourist areas Polish people speak English extremely well. Young people also learn English in school from a young age so they will be able to communicate with you no problem.
