Wroclaw to Karpacz - skiing

We have a holiday this winter in Wroclaw, and have a full day spare. There's about 8 of us. We're wanting to do a day's skiing, and I gather the nearest ski resort to Wroclaw is Karpacz. I've found a bus service that will take us direct, but it stops a few times and takes about 3 hours. 3 hours there and 3 hours back is a bit too much really. Looking at the map it doesn't actually look that far - 130kms. Can anyone suggest an alternative method of transport - a quicker bus service, a tour operator specialising in day trips from Wroclaw or even hiring a minibus?

To be honest, there's no quick way from Wroclaw to Karpacz at that time of year. The weather conditions in Karkonosze can be utterly wild at that time of year, and there's no guarantee that the roads will be suitable for driving particularly fast on.

3 hours for the bus isn't bad, it would probably take about 2 hours or so in a car - but seeing as there's 8 of you, it would probably pay off to hire a minibus if someone has the relevant authorisation on their licence.

Youd probably be better off going to Zieleniec http://www.zieleniec.pl/, its much easier to get too i should think a bus could make it in around 2 hours. Straight down the 8 road from Wroclaw around 100 km,s.

Even in peak periods theres plenty of chair lifts around to get you up and theyve added two new ones only last year. The resort is quite low and not very demanding but if you have some intermediates or beginners in your group it will be perfect. Theres a half pipe there and a board park too.

If Karpacz is where you really want to go consider Spindleruv Mlyn http://www.spindleruv-mlyn.com/en/ just accross the boarder in the Czech Republic, thats an excellent resort for the relatively low altittude with a decent snow record.

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated. I think Zieleniec sounds much better for us, we are all beginners and it sounds much easier to get to. I will look into transport to Zieleniec. Thanks.

hi,
In fact I am a small tour operator based in Wroclaw, so if you need any touring or transportation services for up to 8 people, please get in touch via wroclawsightseeingtours.com. Thanks. Marcin
