Advice on moving to Wroclaw and job prospects

akhi66in5   Apr 8, 09, 15:03 /  #
Hi to everyone who reads this thread. I'm a 25 year old City & Gulds Electrician currently living in London. I've been with my girlfriend for nearly 5 years. She is form Wroclaw and having been there several times I have fallen in love with the city and the people and we both decided to we would like to move back and make a life there. She has since had to return home without me as my work situation has been pretty desperate here since the recession has bitten and as the JSA, while better then a punch in the teeth and a V sign from the government is better than nothing, its hardly enough to survive, let alone pay for a ticket and save up some money to go with her. I am more than willing to learn the language and understand that not speaking Polish is a disadvantage but has anyone got any advice for me. We've spoke about teaching English but I really don't know if i could do it. Has anyone got any advice on job prospects...working for an international company as an electrician...teaching electrical installation...or has anyone not seen themselves as an english teacher and taken the plunge...what are you experiences and advice. I know this has been a bit long winded so thanks for reading. Any and all advice would be welcome. Thanks again

If working for state-owned company Polish electrician can earn about 500-600 pouds per month but it is hard to join the wolves. In private-owned company you can expect about 300-400 pounds per month. When self-employed you can earn about 2000 pounds per month maybe more.

Thanks for that. I knew that the money wasn't great if you worked for a company but had no idea it was that good for self employed. Thats good to know. I've tried contacting SEP but they never got back to me. From what I've read on these forums thats the norm. Thanks for that Peter.
