The cost of an IT programmer in Poland?

Hi

I asked this at the end of another question the other day, but got no response. I am hopeful that I may get a response here.

We "may" be in the market for employing 1-2 qualified IT staff within the the next 12 months. There is no certainty and I am not actually looking for anyone at all at the moment.

What I would like to get a rough estimate is to what sort of wages we could expect to be paying.

The job would be
Project based delegated work
Hours would approx range from 20-40 per week, with the hope they would go to a solid 40.
Work would be home based and "flexi-hours" (ie as long as the hours are done, there would not be the need for them to be 9-5).

I am not interested in "exploiting workers" as I noticed people comment on in other threads, I am only interested in an approx hourly wage.. if that is 30zł, 40zł, 50zł or 60zł then that is the price, we would expect to be paying slightly more than the going rate if we undertook this course in any case, due to the nature of it being not full time to begin with and not permanent potentially.

So could someone please give me a rough indication of what the market rate would be for a web/database/php programmer?

Any advise is really appreciated.

Thank you

I think that 40-50 pln/h is ok (depending on experience and number of hours). For that rate you can expect that they'll work as self-employed and can send you invoices. Experienced PHP programmer makes 3000-5000PLN net per month working full-time depending on city/company.

Hi!

Our IT outsourcing agency Bindestreck in Sweden deals with this question on a yearly bases. The mentioned prices are relevant. Some agencies says around 100 zl per hour to foreign companies. It more normal around 4 - 60 zl / hour depending on experience.

I'm glad I found this post. I've been developing in C++ for 20 years and C# since it was invented. I've also been on the management side and managed teams from 4 people to 16 people. Hourly wage swings wildly depending on the technology being used, the length of hte project and the actual project details.

For example, I just finished doing a contract job for a Polish company at $40/hour USD. It was all web-service based with SQL Server being used as the backend. The project before that was fixed bid and ended up averaging $33/hour. For me it is a lot less about the money and much more about the project, company and people I will be working with.

I'll be spending this summer in Poland, and while I don't know if my current visa would allow it, I am looking for some contract work and am open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks...

Contract work... such thing (almost) do not exist here in Poland.

I think it may be hard to find a job just for the summer, maybe in some smaller companies, but generally - and I think it's like that in most of european countries - the minimal period of work is one year, it doesn't pay off for the company to hire somebody just for few months, training somebody for a specific project is about 1-2 months.. and in this time company is just loosing money on this person...
