I have a few interviews coming up and I have never done an interview for a teaching job before :/ the interviews I am used to are very different. Also they are some interviews which will be on skype.

Any advice on what I should expect etc.

Really appreciate any help.

Thanks :) :)

research the people/company who are conducting the interview.

show a range of suitable vocabulary

speak in a clear voice

show confidence

stay alert. don't fall into casual chat. that's when you'll get caught out.

you're a people person... you don't play chess... you're a team player.

Relax and show confidence but not too much. Dress full professional. Always better to go over the top than under. I have had a few interviews here and I was impressed by some of the questions and told the interviewer so. I think they liked that. Its very important that the student/client is satisfied with the classes as they are the one's paying the money. Research is important so you can throw a bit of info out about them so they know you are serious. Skype? Speak clearly and loudly. Hopefully you will have a good connection. Good luck! They asked me what kind of teacher I was... I said a great one! Also about what I would do in certain classroom situations... quiet or troublesome students...

In all honesty, I wouldn't work for someone that wanted to interview me over Skype. Fair enough, if you can't be in the country for the interview - but a telephone call would make far more sense (and would show that the school has the money to afford such calls!).

Be very wary of anyone who seems desperate to get you to agree to work there and who deflects any questions that you have - the best schools don't need to beg people to work.

And don't be afraid to negotiate on salary :) In fact, don't be afraid to ask awkward questions about your potential contract and conditions - bad schools will always operate under dubious arrangements, whereas good schools will have nothing to hide.

Where are you planning to work?

Chess is played as a team sport, Wroc³aw ;)

Remember to stay fresh and don't get flustered. Show an awareness of classroom dynamics, e.g some of Harmer's research.

Much of the advice above is sound. Remember, your natural self will come across in that interview. Don't be too robotic or give parrot answers, take a deep breath and answer fairly honestly.

Thanks guys :)

My interviews are for schools in Bydgoszcz and Szczecin. I didn't expect to get interviews so quickly so I feel a little bit under prepared.
