Katowice is the capital of Silesian voivodship and is a part of Silesian aglomeration (many cities close to each other - together almost 3 million people) and this is definately not a poor region, however the main branch of the economy is heavy industry/manufacturing, so you would have probably many opportunities If you were a person with experience in mining or steel industry but in this case It may be difficult indeed... In Warsaw, Kraków, Wroc³aw or 3city there are some multinational comapnies, which sometimes hire foreigners but there doesn't seem to be many of them in or near Katowice... Foreigners often teach languages in Poland but the schools want native speakers, not someone who just know the language (they could hire Poles then) and I don't know If there's any demand on teaching Greek...
