How attractive is Canada for Polish men and women?

Just wondering.

I think it's getting more and more attractive for Polish Americans (because of the Canadian dollar is getting stronger in comparison to the US dollar).

Other than that, if a Pole has never visited Canada, how would s/he say if s/he likes it or not? But I think due to the nice Canadian nature Poles like it.

janusz zurakowski moved there and recently passed away their too. Actally the from what I hear the wilno cemetary is full people from poland want to be buried in this historic place.

All of the streets are names fatre polish surnames ,etc. Lots of historic sites , over 5 pioneer cemetaries all text written in polish. Most of the community still speaks polish/kaszub

My cousin lives in Canada (Manitoba). He would move to The US if he could - in no time. Too cold for him. However it is beautiful there. I loved Ontario. The forest is amazing.

I'm of Polish ancestry, but born and raised here. I've got an excellent position in life and everything is pretty good. I'm pretty adaptable and I've lived in 3 different provinces in Canada and I have travelled in over a dozen countries around the world. In my opinion, Canada is about the best place to live (if you can deal with either the cold or the rain).

The love of my life was born in Poland and arrived in Canada just over 4 years ago. There was some adaptation required (obviously) but she's getting there. Life here is much easier than in Poland, on average, but it really depends on what you are looking for.

Yes, it takes getting used to a new place no matter what part of the world or a country it is.
I moved from Poland to The US in 1980. The weather in Illinois is comparable and I did not need to adapt. That was the easy part

I'm sure your wife rather be in Canada than in Poland. Life is still pretty hard there.

You can say that again. Watched few interesting programs about Canadian fauna and flora and it really did catch my attention. Maybe someday I will have the chance to visit your country.

I love Canadian summers. However, the winters here are very brutal to say the least. So I am in between.
The peculiar thing is that every time we get snow, people panic. It seems strange to me that people have not gotten used to the snowy conditions by now. I think that one of the reasons might be that most Canadians drive cars with an automatic transmission which gives little control on the snowy road, unlike the standard (stick) which a lot of people are simply scared off here.
Another peculiar thing is the obsession of Canadians with checking the weather forcast. It's almost like religion for some. I hardly ever check it and I haven't been in troble yet.

Hockey obsession is another one which makes me wonder. In some circles if one mentions their dislike or luck of interest in hockey, the person is perceived as a Canadian traitor. I personally love skating but I think that hockey became very violent in the last decade.

The only area of Canada that I'd ever live would definitely be British Columbia. Awesome!

They should stop letting the guys fight it really ruins the game.
In the AHL league they cant fight and the game is much more enjoyable.
If I want to see guys fighting I`ll watch boxing

I had understood it to be 'the nice nature of Canadians' but I see my bias is showing. Flora and fauna is quite nice too, yes.

I wonder if that might be because you're in Toronto. Toronto hardly ever gets any serious snowfalls. People are not used to driving in it. Plus, the melting snow can be more slippery than a good 10 cm of it. Do you think that might be the case?

You've noticed this? Really? There are more automatic cars here than in Europe, or so I am told, but I assumed it was because the US had flooded the market for so long. Scared? Hmmmmm, interesting.

You should have seen it in the 60's. No helmets,constant fighting,blood on the ice, men with swollen eyes, it was terrible.

for those of you who wish additional information. I find these sites too wordy for my taste but they can be interesting.

Yesterday I had a study session with other students from my class. One was originally from Afganistan, one from China, one from Eretra (Africa). We spend 10 hours together, used English to communicate and were very helpful to each other. We shared experiance from other cultures since the subject we were studying for was women migrants and I think I made some friends. I came home tired but witht the feeling that I achieved and learned a lot that evening. That's Canada for me

You are right Iwona, although we have a lot of problems with pollution these days and I think Syrena is the one to talk to. I am just observing the smogg in Toronto in the summer which make it really difficult to breathe and this is something which worries me a lot.

Canada is a great place. Montreal is the cleanest city I've ever visited and Labrador is wonderful if you want to get lost in the out-door life.
