What attracts tourist to Poland?

A lot of people who visit Poland say they love it, when you ask them what they like about it you get a variety of reasons.

Is Poland a attractive country to visit and what can it offer that other countries cannot?

Hard to say now. Before 1989 Polish (political) immigrants were interested to see their families. Now I would add:

1. Polish women
2. Hmm
3. Hmmmm

It wouldn't pay to go to Poland to buy cheap vodka - it's better to go to Ukraine or Belarus.

I've never been to Poland so if I ever have the chance I would love to see my extended family and take a guided tour to see as much of Poland as possible. My Mom has been to Poland a few times and she went to the area that she grew up in, it's part of the Ukraine now.

Hey lef, i was from Melbourne too, Glenroy to be exact, had a great Polish shop there, where the wife and i would go shopping, also a good one in Dandy and the Vic Market. Poland is full of things to see for the tourist, not just the beautiful women, great vodka. I have had many friends visit now i am here, and i think they all would come back.

I've got cousins and an Aunt in Cairns (sadly my Uncle died of cancer a few years ago ). Unfortunately I've never been out to see them - YET!!!! It's a beautiful place by all accounts - very tropical!

My Uncle went out there on a government scheme in the 1960s - the government offered people from the UK a one way ticket to Oz for 10 pounds, I guess to try and up the population figures.

A visit to Oz is definately on my "to do" list over the next few years, A long visit to Cairns and then a few weeks surfing up the Gold Coast. I'm really looking forward to it!

I know Glenroy, and the Vic Market Shops, the smallgoods are second to none, To be quite frank I haven't tasted anything better in Poland.
I don't think people would travel all the way to Poland for a vodka, you can buy most polish vodka's in oz. I agree vodka is much cheaper in Poland, (you have to be careful that it doesn't pickle your brains let alone your liver.
The question I'm asking, what things stand out and tourist find attractive, two that come to mind is the salt mine where you have a church cut from salt in..oh its near Krakow and the concentration camps, both command a lot of interest, but there places you only see once in a lifetime.
A lot of people from oz go to places like Bali, year in year out because its cheap, good beaches and lovely people, has Poland got something magnetic about it? Something to go back to, year in year out?

i don't think there is something like that in Poland, yes there is beautiful places to see for the tourist like you mentioned, but i dont think i would go to say Zakapone, or the Polish seaside every year.

There is a little butcher shop in Sunshine, that my wife said has the best Polish meats and hams, she said it was like it was homemade 50 years ago, real taste.

You must have a old wife..lol
The strange thing about hams (unless there home made) whether there cheap or expensive they taste the same, I must say pork and chicken taste better in Poland.

It was to fill the gaps in the workforce, keep in mind there was a white Australia policy in force at the time (that sounds racist..hmmm)

Zakapone would be a goer, huge potential, providing it was cheap. These places are good for a week or two only.

Ahh, cheers for clearing that up Lef - I was never really sure why our government did that! They also did the same scheme in Canada - I suppose for pretty much the same reasons
