Aurora Borealis over Poland

Does Poland frequently experience The Northern Lights, aka. Aurora Borealis? It's pretty far north, I think Gdansk is at the same latitude as Edmondton, Canada.

The most northerly point in Poland is approximately 55 deg N.
In the UK this is about level with Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Edmonton, Canada is a little bit South of this,
but I'm only guessing that you have to head further north in Canada to really see the Aurora.
(Remember that Canada is the world'd second biggest country).

Try about 60 deg N or closer to the Pole and you might get lucky. Northern Scandinavia, the far north of Russia - quite a trek from Poland!

It has been known to have been seen suprisingly far south,
but this is an incredibly rare event.

Absolutely amazing. You can't take your eyes off them. Truly a wonder. So enthralled I never took one pic - which I thoroughly regret. Hope to see them again soon though.

Legend says it even makes a clicking noise or something. Experience any such thing, PD?

Photographs don't capture things the way you remember them or the way they are.
I remember the eclipse a few years ago. People were taking pictures, with flash!
There is a clicking desert in China (possibly part of the Gobi).

I know they don't but it would have been nice to see what they might have turned out like...and I have seen some cracking pics of Aurora!

I remember that eclipse, the oddest thing.

Don't know about clicking deserts but now I'm going to have to Google it! lol

Google it

Strangely I found nothing. I swear I heard something (I think on a Radio 3 documentary) a couple of years ago about an area of desert somewhere in China where somehow the sand produced various clicking sounds, but that something like shifting climatic patterns, pollution or land reclaimation was causing this area to shrink.

Well, from what I have quickly read, most clicking noises/various noises are being put down to various animals/lizards/snakes.

Not the most exciting answer....

.... unless they've grouped together to form an ensemble, orchestra or barbershop quartet.

I'm still sure about the clicking desert - lizards or not!
