you can't rely on official statistics when it comes to things like the income. The true income is always higher. I just looked up the median income in Michigan - it says $48000/year per household.
URL Let me tell you something - i don't know anybody who makes this little here. nobody. I can't imagine anybody surviving on 48K per family. But these statistics include people on welfare with free housing and food stamps, soldiers, retirees, single people who live along, and - most importantly people who don't want to pay any taxes, who in fact hide their true income. Between me and my wife we make almost 3x that and trust me- we are not wealthy by any means!
So if they say 2700 count it as at least double; plus you have cheaper cost of living etc.
