I had a call today from a company in Poland after they saw my CV and they asked how much I'd be prepared to work for. I told them 8000 a month (gross) which is quite a pay cut for me. Even so, I guess I won't be hearing from them again although I have discovered the company is in fact American.

wake up Poles dont tip !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not true. Poles tip, but not as religiously as, say, Americans...even in lower budget resteraunts and pubs it is considered good class to leave a little if a waiter comes to your table a few times and the service is good..

you can't rely on official statistics when it comes to things like the income. The true income is always higher. I just looked up the median income in Michigan - it says $48000/year per household. URL

Let me tell you something - i don't know anybody who makes this little here. nobody. I can't imagine anybody surviving on 48K per family. But these statistics include people on welfare with free housing and food stamps, soldiers, retirees, single people who live along, and - most importantly people who don't want to pay any taxes, who in fact hide their true income. Between me and my wife we make almost 3x that and trust me- we are not wealthy by any means!

So if they say 2700 count it as at least double; plus you have cheaper cost of living etc.

but is is good sign (increase) Czechs are richer than Portugal and Greece so they have taken some old EU countries (they have had better base to start in 89) so we will take them as well :))

Generaly we have made great job at the beginning of 90's people earned about 70 USD and now about 1300 ;) still **** but ... :)

I was told this too. Also, I was told that "Polish people like to complain." That was told me by a Polish lady after she told me that Poles will always tell you their official 'low" amount they are making. What they fail to tell is that they may have two or three sources of income.

I'm finding this to be true...

2700zł, this statistic is very hard to come to. There is a lot of undeclared activity going on that would distort the figure.
