Me too, and luckily more and more people are changing their mind about the environment and its protection. The thing is... we have to 'act' now :)

Going back to subject

http://www.polskieradio.pl/zagranica/news/artykul92078_Baltic_Sea_Cong ress_held_in_Poland.html

Experts from eight Baltic countries have convened in Warsaw for the Baltic Sea Economic Congress.

The event is co-organised by the Baltic Development Forum, Warsaw-based think-tank “demosEuropa” and the Office of the Committee for European Integration. During the congress, representatives of the Baltic states will discuss the challenges connected with protecting the environment and the economic development opportunities and prospects of the entire region. (something for polson)

The congress is also devoted to preparation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region. The project to be ready by next spring is aimed at changing perceptions of the region both among its inhabitants and across the European Union.

"Over the last year, BDF has sparred with mainly the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs on this topic, resulting in a Swedish initiative to make this one of its main priorities for its EU Presidency in 2009. Consequently, in December 2007, the European Council tasked the Commission to draft a European Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region by June 2009. Thus, the realization of the strategy is secured.

BDF will work together with the main regional partners to provide substantial input to the strategy, since it would be wrong to leave it to the European Commission and the EU alone to define the contents of a strategy for the Region. Regional actors (governments, regional organizations and business representatives) must be able to present their view of the priorities for the future. Who should know better what is important in order to secure economic growth, address the challenges of globalization and obtain sustainable development?"

Gdynia

The Pomeranian Science and Technology Park (PSTP) – a specialist centre for the promotion of innovativeness, situated in Gdynia, Poland, operates already for its seventh year. The Park is a modern entity which actively supports the development and transfer of advanced technologies, as well as the creation and commercialization of innovative projects. For these reasons the PSTP is often referred to as the Pomeranian Silicon Valley and serves as Gdynia’s and the entire Region’s flagship. In September 2007 the PSTP was honoured with membership in the ScanBalt network, and just six months later became part of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP). Access to these organizations opened PSTP towards broader possibilities of establishing new contacts and cooperation with foreign partners, as well as an extensive database and valuable information sources.
