Those of you who think that things will change when Obama takes over think again. What makes you so sure? The victory of the Democratic Party in the 2006 congressional elections did not change a thing. The senate is made up of 49 democrats, 49 republicans and two Independents Lieberman, Conn and Sanders, Vt. who caucus with the democrats and for the most part vote with republicans. In the House, there are currently 233 democrats and 202 republicans, the governors 28 democrats and 22 republicans. Neither House nor Congress is capable of or even willing to criticize administration of bad policy be it on domestic front or foreign policy. If you check how each member of congress or house voted over key issues you will not see the difference between the democrat and republican. Whoever wins the next election will not change a thing. Sure there will be a lot of discussions, debates and excuses but overall things will remain as they are. Those of you who put so much hope in Obama will be greatly disappointed and voting for McCain will yield the same. This is politics and it’s above one man, one office or even one party. I’m afraid Wroclaw Boy may be right; this madness will stop when the funds run out.

Dice:
Can anybody remember last time 100.000 people were waving American flags coming to welcome and cheer an American politician in Europe? Lately it has been quite the opposite - crowds protesting US President visits, anti-American slogans etc. Can Barak Obama change it? Yes, he can.

He did nothing yet, it would speak about mentality of people whom would welcome him so enthusiastically. Why would anybody especially bother about visits of some politicians? Such people are emotionally behind many children.

VaFunkoolo:
Lets hope this send a loud clear message to all the American fools who still think the world loves them

The US was often object of loudly expression of hate from minority of European losers. Their hate originated from inferiority complex of a loser. Such people often hate to see anybody having better life. Unfortunately majority is always silent.

This comment says to me that you think the US is "damned if they do, and damned if they don't."

It seems to me that after dealing with a bulldozer with closed up ears (Bush) the leaders of Europe would welcome any US leader with a "teamwork" attitude!

But then again, if the US should finally succeed in electing a leader who can change things for the better, including foreign relations...rather than shamefully pursuing power and self interests....I think those who have made a hobby of Ammie bashing may have to go into therapy!!!!!
It wouldn't be pretty....don't know if we can do that to the world!

Why not learn a lesson and concentrate on what has been written rather than going off on a tangent. People might start respecting you a little more

How do you define Neo-con? Everyone throws this term around....but its meaning is a little fuzzy. It means different things to different groups, and has changed in meaning over the years.

Neo-conservatism is a term almost exclusively used by the enemies of America's liberation of Iraq. There is no 'neo-conservative' movement in the United States. When there was one, it was made up of former Democrats who embraced the welfare state but supported Ronald Reagan's Cold War policies against the Soviet bloc. Today 'neo-conservatism' identifies those who believe in an aggressive policy against radical Islam and the global terrorists.

I made a good point, anti-American attitudes of loudly minority of Europeans were not born with Bush presidency. It is already a tradition in some circles. To mention people during cold war whom demonstrated against American nuclear potential and not raising Soviet issue at all. One could think that they sided with Soviet regime only because pure hate to the US.

However I would not respect myself if I would start to write BS only to appease to 'some people'. I'm also curious about your authoritative assumption that 'I don't enjoy people respect'. How do you know that?

Lesser, that just sounds like a fancy term for Imperialism to me.

Recipe: Take a far left Liberal and give him war-thirst and bingo! You've got a "neocon".

No thanks.

This is not any unbased on evidence authoritative definition but observation of their politics that leads Ron Paul to such conclusions. The neoconservatives invented this term because they despise conservatism and had desire to hijack conservative voters and whole GOP.

How do you define neoconservatism? Of course basing on evidence.

No, no.. it was very nice of your people showing support for Obama.. People in the US will see it and it looks very favorable to have a large crowd like that.

Paris was happy to see him too.
McCain got so jealous of all the attention Obama was getting, that his camp let go a false rumour that he was about to announce his VP pick....just to get the spotlight back!

Hmm thanks.. Good news too. I think his trip was a shrewd move by his camp.. It's literally very dangerous not have Europe as friends. He needs to run with this momentum and not get lazy like Michael Dukakis did in 88'.

You may well have made a good point but it was not the one I responded to. You stated that critisism of America is born of losers' inferiority complexes. I said that this is rubbish. Which it is.

I'm also curious about your authoritative assumption that 'I don't enjoy people respect'. How do you know that?

lesser. Please at least try to keep up with what I have actually said rather than making arsesumptions about what you think I might have said. It is tedious to say the least. It also breeds contempt

Now I wonder, was that planned or was that just one of these funny accidents?

What I find humorous about the whole election is that americans think that their vote counts. It doesnt. The president is elected by the electoral college made up of members who are appointed as candidates for the college by the politicians themselves and elected to the college in local elections. The members of the electoral college are predominately powerful individuals from the business world. The popular vote only counts in the presidential election if there is a tie in the electoral college vote (bush vs. gore) and even then we can see how the system did not work during the recount. Obama may be good for racial relations inside America but the rest of it is unknown and politicians are famous for playing to the crowds and then starting their real agenda once in office. Bush ran as a centralist as well.
